I have intermittent problem with threads marked as unread but when I click there isn't any change in a thread and I see all those posts which I have read already with orange mark "NEW" again. Do you have any advice?

First, try clearing your web browser's cookies. Also, what browser are you using? Do you know if you are accessing the Internet behind a proxy server?

I'm using Opera 10.10 , not only cleared my cookies, but deleted all user data and reinstalled my browser. Problem still persists and it's not dependable on proxy i'm using in my work or non proxy connection when I'm home.

Are you using the back button on the browser instead of navigating within the site, like using the crumb trail? That would bring back the old page just as it were, with all the same stuff. You could be on here all day using the back button, and at bed time the front page would still be the same as when you woke up. Unless you refresh, of course.

I think Opera has some pretty aggressive cache settings by default. Go to Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> History and make sure that you set the "Check documents" field under "Check if cached page is updated on the server" to "Always". It defaults to "Never" on my installation, which could cause Opera's users lots of confusion on many different websites. Let me know if that helps for you.

I get told that I have new posts in a forum if I...

a) Visit Forum (i.e. Formula 1)
b) Read topic with new posts.
c) Click "Forums" at the top.

However if I

a) Visit Forum (i.e. Formula 1)
b) Read topic with new posts.
c) Click "Forumula 1"
d) Click Forums

Then the topic I is now set to "read"...

I think this is just a peculiarity of the VBbulletin boards... I've noticed PHPBB (on other forums) doesn't do this... (Of course there are lots of different prosandcons between the two!)
