Since getting the game (PAL) I have been searching everywhere for how to find the actual Mini (Cooper) to no avail. (To prevent any confusion, I am refering to the Mini as designed by Sir Alex Issigonis in 1957, not the fat hatchback released around 2001)

I cannot believe that this car has been overlooked by the team at PD. It is at least as popular as the VW Beetle, as long running as any other production car and has the racing pedigree to match any other production car.

The trouble is, a group of Bavarian Moronic Wankers bought the rights to the Mini, and the Mini name so that they could cash in with their own version. The new MINI One and MINI Cooper were then released, and both appear in the game (although strangely appearing in the UK section, and not the German one, alongside BMW)

Now why would the original Mini not be honoured, as the 'old' VW Beetle is alongside the new Beetle? The only conclusion (IMO) is that the new owners of the Mini name are desparate to hide the fact that their new version is not only far more expensive than the original (even in relative terms) but also has inferior handling and is less fun to drive, facts which would become apparent if both versions were modelled as accurately as GT4 manages. Now think how devastating to game sales it would be if there were no BMWs in the game (No M5, no M3, no M coupe)

The original mini cooper was in GT3.

Oh and it was complete balls, it only handled well because it's top speed was about 15mph.

i like the new mini's in the game u used them for a lot of diffrent circuts..... as for the the old one i didnt like it as much in GT3. It is strange how they dont have it in the game at all

Judging by Your Ignorance, Your probably American, and dont even know the heritage of this vehicle,

If you aint got anything nice to Say Dont Say, beacuse its not even constructive, 👎

Don't judge Americans... we have all kinds here. At least we didn't invent "Spice Girls"! :dopey:

With all that is going on with MGRover, I got upset AGAIN how BMW screwed them. I sold all my BMWs and MINIs from my GT4.

Used the cash to buy the LeMans Green MG-TF.

Well , We Americans knew about our muscle cars .. and Our Chrysler 300Cs so accorse SOME of us don't know about the Mini. It was never a big hit in America to tell the truth , the new ones are way to expensive for what you get also. you guys should ship over a couple oringal minis , our gas is high :scared:

GT4 has the Mini Marcos witch is a Mini with an (ugly) areodinamical body and a tuned engine. I know it isn't the original but it's stil a mini.

All I know about the mini is it was a rally car that dominated back in the day.

Not to mention, it looks pretty cool lowered and with some camber. :)

I was quite disapointed about the Minis and would much rather the old minis to the knew ones in the game. I don't think that the Minis need lowering or any camber as they're still cool (If it's the latest version of the old shaped mini)

The Marcos was a custom shell with Mini running gear I think, built for racing.

The Issigonis Mini IS in GT4 - a 1998 model 1.3i.

Only, it's in the Far Eastern versions. There is no evidence of it being in North American NTSC or PAL releases.

Bummer.

our gas is high

I wouldn't complane. I live in san diego.

I just paid 2.85 for premium (thats 91 in CA) at the cheap (cash only) station. But I don't mind. why you ask? Take a look at gas prices in the UK or anywhere beside the US. They would love to buy petrol at 2.85 a gallon. I just read on the bbc that petrol is 85 pence/liter that is 6.09 USD/gallon. Try filling up you H2 at those prices and I'll see you at the bank lookin for another loan. They need the mini way more than we do.

I was also amazed that the real Mini was not in GT4 except in the Japanese version. The exposure of the real Mini in GT2 was much better with 3 versions in the game including the rally version complete with the Monte Carlo Rally sign on it's roof. Only one slow version of the real Mini in GT3 was not representative of what the little guys can do. It felt like you were towing a broken-down BMW behind you instead of the actual 1300 pounds they really weigh.

I am very curious to find out why the real Mini has been treated this way by Polyphony. My Mini is so much fun to drive and with the great mileage as an added bonus, I don't plan on buying a big car ever again. After I bought my current 67 Mini Cooper, I sold the last of the three Corvettes I have owned and have never looked back. My new 1310cc Graham Reid built motor will finally be done by the end of this week and will go into the car this weekend and I will be sure to go out and terrorize all the overweight BINI's I can find.

Maybe the real Mini will be better represented again in GT5. Until then, I will continue to have the most fun in the game with the similar "giant-killer" Suzuki GSX-R/4 where you can get very high A-Spec points by beating all the big heavy gas guzzlers where you shouldn't be able to. I love to beat the Mazda 787B, Audi R8 etc., at the hard level in the Special Condition Events wet Tsukuba race. Very funny to see the big cars struggle in the wet while you just motor on by in the turns.

Here are a few pictures of a real Mini that will be terrorizing the Santa Barbara area soon.

It's nearer $5.50 for a US gallon, $7.30 for an Imperial gallon.

But we get a choice of 95RON or 98RON. I wouldn't run a lawnmower with 89/91.

Christ, this is sickening.

I agree with every word said by DuefoMachine.

The Mini was a car that shaped European motoring in the 70's; it was affordable, drivable, and individual, and an extension of this was it's sucess in rally events across the UK. The 'Minis' sold by BMW today only have the slightest correlation to the original Mini - that being a vulgar caricature, in the style of the original.

I'm not going to say "The Mini was better than the Chrysler Whatever", (you Yanks have your own cars of heritage) but you guys must appreciate the fact that some cars mean more to Brits than they do to Americans or Japanese. I mean, come on, you've got enough of your "Fast and Furious" Japanese Crap in the game to keep you happy.

And JayP; the fact that you put MG before Rover denotes clearly that you know next to nothing about UK cars and their manufacturers.

Long live Britain.

i don't think BMW would not want the mini in GT4. BMW group has themselves used the mini name and heritage to sell the new MINI (which is a great car in my opinion, don't be upset jst because of the name, of course you can't compare it with the original one, but i don't think there would be a market for a more original mini).

maybe some other company bought the exclusive rights for the old mini (that would also explain why they used some modern version of the mini in the asian version instead of the original)? i don't think PD just left it out...

BMW may have used the Mini name, but not the heritage. Their current version is built with BMW parts which are now popping up in the new 1 series. I do not have a problem with the new Mini, only it should not be called a Mini. (Same as the film The Italian Job... but I disgress)

AFAIK the rights to both the Mini name, and the original Mini design (although this has been licensed out to a company called British Heritage to build replacement bodyshells) is owned by BMW. The fact the original Mini is available in the Japanese version shows that it has been deliberately witheld from the American and European versions. I can only think this is because if people could play with it in the game, opinion would sway away from the New Mini, possibly harming sales.

Oh and because I can't resist showing off my baby...

this is way off subject....but how do you feel about FORD owning Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin? What is there left? Lotus? Imagine if FORD made the newmini (haha), you guys got lucky.

i know it sucks that today not one marque is entirely from their respective country.

Anyway, Great Britain was where the birth of the sports car took place. And most Americans cant understand the excellent qualities of light-weight-amazing-handling cars because we have so much goddamn space to drive straight. And for the most part our roads suck (which is why we (the general population here) like to 'float' over them).

Atleast in the italian job they had the original body styled mini for a moment...and it kicked arse.

There was only 1 slow BMW in GT3 and I would say that its sales #s were good. If a certain make not being in GT could hurt sales, I would think it would start with a F L or P, but it still does ok without them.

Our octane is rated (research + motor / 2). Research octane number is tested with a lower rpm and lower intake air temperature then motor octane number so 98 RON is lower when measured in MON (just a guess but I would say about 85 MON). If you want a more specific explanation I can look it up. My truck has 8.3-1 compression and runs 14.7 psi (1 bar) of boost with about a 130* intake temp under boost and I have no knock/detonation with 93 R+M/2 octane gas.

I highly agree that the ORIGINAL Mini, and the original Mini Cooper should of made it in the game along WITH the Rally versions. But unlike the rest of you I actually really like the "new" BMW Mini...so what if it's got the same name as the old one--you think that changes the fact that the original was so awsome? No. Like the Audi quattro the Mini revolutionized the Rally by introducing a smaller car
(the Mini) that could hang with the "big boys". The real sad part is the over emphasis towards Japanese cars...I mean here's a little info from my Garage...I've bought some used cars (all countries) as well as almost every (Missing about 5) non-race car from the new car companies that you can buy.

Total cars: 592
Cars by country of origin according to the Sort list:
JPN: 377
USA: 76
UK: 40
GER: 41
FRA: 30
ITA: 18
AUS: 1
KOR: 3
SWE: 5
SPA: 1

I mean come on...I'm going to start a new game and purchase every new car possible and nothing else and see the hugely biasedness towards Japanese vs everyone else and post my results soon, along with a long letter to PD about this (yea, like they will read it). There is no German conspiracy...I wish there WERE but there isn't. I can't state enough of my dislike of the Japanese bias...and no one can give me that "well the game is made in Japan what do you expect"--that's a load of crap. That's no excuse for them balancing the game out. Which brings me to my final point...I love automotive heritige from any origin--which includes but isn't limited to America, the UK, Austrailia, Germany, Japan, and etc. I'm just a car guy who likes everything but Hondas (joke!).

See the comments in underlined...couldn't you be a little more considerate to the American and Japanese readers and not use slurs? If Europeans are so "tolerant" of each other why do I consistantly see them do the opposite. I may have been born in America (unfortunatly) but that still doesn't give me the right to use slurs and generalizations to any non-American. What you don't realize is everyday I have to deal with nice Americans, asshole americans, nice foreigners, and asshole foreigners. The only things that I've learned from working in public for a decade are; toleration for your fellow man, respect other people, and don't have a superiority complex towards others. If you notice my "Location" in my profile you'll see that yes I DO want to get out of this country...that still won't give me the right to use slurs towards Americans when I do leave.

Judging by your crude generalizations of Americans I'd say you're European. See how good that felt for you? Not very good I'd imagine. That's an example of a statement that I really dislike. Don't assume everyone from a particular part of the world are all the same. There are good and bad people in every part of the world from every society. Learn toleration and everything will be ok. If you don't or refuse that's your business just expect nothing good from life with the attitude that you are better than someone else based on earnings, race, country origin, political stance, or religon.
