Recently all my hard work was lost when one day I turned on the game and it told me LOAD FAILED so I tried deleting the old game and starting a new one but when I do it tells me it cant overwright the existing game......and when I go into the memory card through the browser I see corupt data and I can't delete it....does anyone have any ideas or suggestions how to fix this problem?

A memory card re-format might be the only thing to do, if you have a max drive or anything to back up your other game saves back them up and use the drives software to reformat the memory card, then put all your saves back on, obviousely all excluding the GT4 one since that's now corrupt. A re-format will wipe it off but take everything else with it, but it might be your only chance of re-using that card for GT4, either that or buy a new card.

No I dont have one of those lol so you think just get a new memory card?

1) Download a memory card formatter ISO from the internet.
2) Burn a CD/DVD with this image.
3) Run it on Playstation 2
4) Choose "Format my memory card"
5) Wait
6) Cry "I've lost everything"
7) Play

Sorry I carn't help ya much, same thing happend to me a while back. Thankfully I have backups stored on the PC as I have the max drive live4speed was talking about. Its worth buying one of these what ever happens.

Well, there are lots of people getting corrup GT4 save because of the autosave, I've had it myself.

Hmmm.....I guess it was a wise choice when I turned autosave off after using it for 3 days eh?

You know you need a modchip to run CD-RW or DVD-RW on the PS2. Anyway always backup your data.

Yeah, a modchip is required. Be careful though, they'll void your warranty if you install one. Also, you'll need to do some messy soldering stuff so make sure you have a soldering iron handy.

Many people have had their garages deleted in Gran Turismo 2 or had their data corrupt due to the autosave feature in Gran Turismo 4.

If you can, make sure you keep regular back-ups of your data.

If you don't have a mod chip, get another memory card, it's the cheapest and least hassle way of sorting it out. It sucks that the PS2 doesn't have a memory card re-format option built in, I was lucky that when my card wen't tit's up on me I'd only just the day before bought a MaxDrive and backed everything up.

I don't think so. Otherwise all those DVDR DVDRW CDRW and other books wouldn't be described in PS2 box.

You can play music CD's and DVD's, regardless of whether they're burnt or not. However, I don't think you can play burnt games on the PlayStation 2 though. You'll need a modchip for that.

I put in my CD-R I burned and I couldnt play it. It was finalized too. Or maybe my PS2 hates Japanese pop music.

See my posting "It was real and it was nice..". You are not going to like my solution to the problem nor will you like hearing what Sony Corp. had to say to me when I inquired about the recall on some of the AC adapters for the PS2 Slim model.
