Was playing just hours ago with one of my buddies online, and his game froze, then he lost all of his data. Not quite, because the corrupted data is still there. Not like it was his fault that this happened. Is there anything he can do to get him endless hours of gameplay back? He lost everything from cars, tro XP progress, and events. In short, everything.

What can be done here?

The same thing happend with me today.
If he dont have a backup, theres nothing he can do

No backup would be a horrible thing in this case. I don't know of a way to recover this. If the save is corrupted, the game was probably saving to the HDD while it froze and it got cut off. It happened to me on another game- the power cut out while the game autosaved. Sorry, mate.

Oh noo I just had a Frozen game last night, and due to late evening i just turn it off and went to bed...

.... Rush to console and check the game

Well, is there something POLYPHONY could do? I mean, it's not someones fault that the POS PS3 freezes. It's something i couldn't believe the first time it happened to me. It's simply something you will experience if you're a PS3 owner, however... To make matters worse, it freezes right when saving...which is unbelievably ridiculous.

It isn't the user's fault. I never KNEW the PS3 could freeze while saving, i thought the POS simply has too much to handle, or is just plain crap (what i think).

This guy's been playing as long as me, since launch, and now he has to start from scratch? That's ridiculous... I wish Polyphony could have a say on this... It's BS, simply...

How about other people's game saves? Could...he use them, somehow? I'll give him a copy of mine, idc.

I got corrupt data 2 days ago. Right after i downloaded the "24 hr of nurb" video actually.
It didnt freeze or anything just turned it on and it was corrupt. I had a save but it was very old and i lost alot.

ys,freezings and gt5 save data corropted. it's happening since last seasonals update.l told it on a thread and was told it was my fault 4 not having backup but it's something on gt5 ,it doesn't happen wth any other game,my fault was to trust it wouldnt happen wth GT5 as well.

It was your fault... if you know this is a possibility, maybe you should take necessary precautions. It takes less time to back up your game save than it does to come here and whine about it.

Furthermore most of us in the past have sent cars to GTPlanet users whom this has happened to before. Now it just seems that people want to whine about it happening instead of just taking 10 seconds to back up your game.

Yes it sucks when it does happen, but take the precautions and it's no big deal.

Some people here that would place blame, but it's just a fact of life when data corrupts. Someone could share their save with him.
PD has absolutely nothing to say about this. A user's PS3 is not their responsibility, no matter what any of us think.

Think of it this way... you buy a nice PC game and upload it. You play it for a year and build up an awesome profile on the game. Your hard drive crashes, and you can't recover it. Is it that game's fault? No.

I realize you and your friend are aggravated--- I would be. But, I also have multiple backups of the game saves I wouldn't want to lose. I have an auto save on the PS+ cloud daily(or any day I use the game), and I usually back up on a thumb drive weekly/monthly, especially after a big event.

I hope something gets worked out for you guys, but the lesson here is the old adage of: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

whine?no. why r u so conformed wt corropted datas?(not sure about this word)
i dnt have any other game wt corropted data!and gt5 fans must know this to be sure to have backups.it's happening to many peopl, it's not normal.

Hello,
can you please describe a fast way to back up gt5 save file in order to prevent any problem in the future ?

I have had GT5 freeze up on me quite a few times and I have never had a problem. Whenever this happens, I have always gone to Quit Game to the PS3 XMB. It does take a little while to get there, but it eventually does and I have had no problems with corrupt data. I do backup my files just in case. I think most people are having issues because they think because the game froze that the PS3 froze as well, which is not the case. With GT5 data being loaded onto the hard drive, the last thing you want to do is turn the power off if/when it does freeze up.

Ok maybe you should look at the AUP again there and fix up that grammar. I can barely understand.

Anyway on topic, I thought there was a way to recover some how via the Ps3s settings. Probably wrong but I thought I've seen methods for that.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago and I was pissed, but after reading a few threads that other people made about this problem, I started backing up my data on a flash drive every other week. So what I would suggest that everyone who owns GT5 should buy a flash drive and keep a backup, because this game isn't like a lot of other games where you can start playing and finish it in a week. It could literally take weeks or even month's to get certain cars, if you don't want to trade for them.

So everyone try to make a backup copy of your game data, even if you just make another account and store it there

Everybody should make a backup every day, for the miniscule amount of time it takes it's simply not worth it not to do that.

I just had my save file corrupt also. The game didn't freeze exactly but was running slugishly so I hit the PS button and told it to 'quit game' but my PS3 reset itself.

When I started it up again and fired up GT5 I was asked to agree to the online terms of use and had to reset my screen size at which point I knew something had to be wrong. Quit the game again and sure enough my save file was corrupt.

Luckily for me I make fairly regular saves and had a save file from less than 2 weeks ago that I could go back to........but honestly guys make sure you have a backup....It's the only way to protect against random #$%$^ like this.

Yes just copy your save onto a Flash drive and give him the flash drive :)

is just a usb drive pen all I need to backup gt5 save file?does the system let me copy it on the pen?[/QUOTE

Yes, standard USB and you copy GT save game data and copy it.

Backing up is a must. I backup every single day to two drives and then copy that data to two other drives as well. I also have older saves in one week intervals by date on two external drives just in case something is amiss with my current saves. The fact Forza doesn't allow this both angers and scares me and I always play it with my fingers crossed.
