Someone asked about details for the Sting Ray in GT1. I finally got around to looking at one yesterday.

Here are the salient details from the "spec" page viewable in the garage (if you've managed to get one into your garage),

Chevrolet '67 427Coupe

Power: 427hp/5900rpm
Torque: 3489.1lb.ft/4000rpm
Front Tire: 205/45 15
Rear Tire: 205/45 15
Displacement: 426cu.in
Engine Type: OHV V8
Aspiration: Normal

There appears to be no textual "Info" for the car; selecting that button causes the PlayStation to lock up.

So it is assumed to be the largest V8 motor in the car. I don't know why they say "426" and not "427", however. Some year maybe I'll try to grab some screenshots. But yesterday was the first time I'd turned a PlayStation on for weeks, so. . . .

How do you get one into your garage? The only time I saw the car was in Arcade mode, never saw it avaialble to buy or win in GT mode. I assume you use a game shark or some hacking device.

That was me asking about it, so I could revamp my C2 Corvette car review with more accurate info.

I knew who asked about it, but thought I'd share with everyone. :D

I think you can trade one into your garage, if someone else has one on their card. (I should check that).

If not, then the garage entry does need to be manipulated directly by some device.

I appreciate that, SW. Much respect. 👍 I was trying to look up specs on Pupik's GT1 site, but it looks as tho he forgot to list the '67 Corvette...

Anyways, I also don't have a gameshark or any other device so your info (as usual) helps.

indicates I bought the car via memory card trade for that game.
In memory card trade, it does not try to access the "info", so I guess that's why that might work although buying from a showroom or used car lots (using a memory patching device) will cause the Playstation to lock up.

I'll try to reconfirm that detail, and also find the more fundamental statistics. (Weight, primarily).

So it "costs" $10,000 to trade the Sting Ray from one memory card to the next? Or did I get that wrong?

Given appropriate skilz, one can make a car in a garage cost whatever one wants. I happened to choose Cr8000, actually.

Here's the other specs...

Chevrolet '67 427Coupe
Drivetrain: FR
427hp
3395lb

Length: 175in
Width: 69in
Height: 49in
Tread.F: 57in
Tread.R: 58in
Wheelbase: 97in
Curb Weight: 3395lb

Front Suspension: Double Wishbone
Rear Suspension: Double Wishbone

Very very cool! This is consistent with what's found in GT2, I think. 👍

Any thoughts of driving impressions (on your site?) These Vettes are quite clumsy in GT2 and GT4. :scared:

Well...

The other day, after noting those specs, I took a '67 Corvette (stock tires) to the Sunday Cup, and had difficulty keeping it from spinning out on the esses at Grand Valley East, so I actually lost the series the first time. (21 to 21, I think).

After that I checked my general GT1 skills by trying license test A3 (first hairpin at Grand Valley). I started out about 4 seconds off, but passed (bronze) in about 5 tries.

Also obliterated the Grand Valley East Spot Racer with a Cerbera LM, but didn't really win by as much as I would have a few years ago.

Your description of the Vette as being clumsy is good enough for me; sounds consistent with the way it drives in later GTs. 👍

i think that the name pointing to the horsepower, not Engine displacement.

One thing i dont understand is why it wasnt in simulation mode as a new car to buy. Like other Corvettes or Camaros.

Sorry I've been playing lately gt1 NTSC U/C on my psone slim but wanna have that corvette on my garage in simulation mode can you help me??? Thanks a lot

You will need a gameshark or a similar device that accepts gameshark codes.

hey Lion23 thanks a lot... I never thought someone was gonna answer me... really thanks... sorry but I have two more questions , one belongs to the theme 67 corvette and the other one for cheat codes: 1.- which gameshark version works on??? because i read that works the 1.0 version and 2.- where can i find the codes to NO NAME CARS on gt1 and if it's possible gt2???... i'm an old player that lives in south america. I've been trying to get all available cars on gts in normal and racing mod... at the beginning, I just bought the cars in normal way but today I'm trying to cheat to obtain rare cars and order them all alphabetically ... I've completed the gt2 with around 960 - 970 cars more or less including the hidden clk and integra type r... but there i'm still looking for no name cars codes... by the way thanks

No problem man.

1. Do you mean that you want the Corvette '67 code for version 1.1 of GT1? If so, here's the garage space codes for "Have 100 cars". You just need to change the values for the garage space of your choice to B0 (this the value for the Corvette).

2. I believe the only "No name cars" in GT1 are the license cars (the literal license), the bronze GT logo, the trophy car (called "Troffy" in the game) and a certain additional Celica GT-Four that has a value of B1.
