Couple of general PS3 questions?

I tried searching but didn't come up with something useful, in the last couple of weeks I really started getting into my PS3 , bought Ninja sigma and now I've got Virtua Tennis 3, and today I bought PES 2008 :D , now the 2 main questions ....

This an important question for online play, today I was checking out PES menu and it had a port option which would allow you to select a UDP port, my question is there any specfic ports I need to open on my router ? on the Xbox there are 3 ports which are used, but I'm not sure about this for the PS3/PSN. So any info this topic would be great, as I want to get the best connection possible for online gaming.

now for the 2nd questions, Ninja sigma had an option to "install" the game, so I did . Also PES 2008 had the same option so I did that too. What kind of benefits would I gain by doing this? or it doesn't make a diffrence?
 
No, you don't need to set UDP ports for online play. It's probably for local games on your own network.

Installing portions of games onto your HDD greatly decreases loading times. The Blu-Ray drive in the PS3 is 2x. It has a maximum read speed of 72 Mbits per second. The Serial ATA HDD in the PS3 has a maximum read speed of 3 Gbits per second. That's more than 30-times faster.
