Creating Amazon Links

I asked in a thread earlier if there was a way to create Amazon links in GTP posts. @BobK kindly answered but with a static domain link. I didn't want to take that thread off-topic (I know, me!) and therefore posted here.

My full question should have been; is there a way to create Amazon links that dynamically link to the correct Amazon domain "per-user" via a GTP Amazon Seller account? @BobK's link didn't work to me as it went to the US .com domain.

For example, [amazon]product_ID_of_some_kind[/amazon]

I remember seeing a similar linking facilitiy in the Amazon API a couple of years ago but I can't remember either the proper terminology or the actual details :)

This should happen automatically in forum links to Amazon, as they are routed through the SkimLinks service which does geo-targeted redirection. This Amazon.co.uk link to the GT6 Anniversary Edition, for example, takes me to the U.S. Amazon.com page for the product:

Well, I have to take back my previous post, because it's not working with that example. Oddly, it does seem to work with this product, but I don't know why or what the difference is.

It should work with any type of link, regardless of what the linked text or image contains.

In that case, @Jordan, I'll watch this space :D

OK, I've reached out to Skimlinks support to see if they can explain what's happening.

It may have been a temporary issue - are you finding this to work as expected now, @TenEightyOne?

For example, does this link to GT6 redirect you to Amazon.co.uk?
