I've been alot checking for capture devices to capture GT4 on PC, and thought it would be useful to have a thread like this.
So, alot of people wants to record GT4 videos onto their PC but dont know how (or dont know what to use). Its not so hard, and not so easy. You first need a Capture Device (USB or FireWire) or a Capture Card (PCI card), or even a TV Tuner Card that has the ability to record. The part that is no so easy is the part where you need to choose the proper device (or card). The choice of the part needs to go with 2 things: your budget and your computer's specs. Some cards/devices requires alot of ressources, and some not. In fact, some people will think that the more ressources you use, the more the card/device is great (great quality, high compression, etc..). Its not totally true. Some yes and some are only filled with useless applications and process. You need to be really attentionate about the details and read everything about the device/card you are buying, so you could not be ripped off from your buy. Another important detail is to know what you will plug on it. Is it only the gaming console ? TV ? VCR ? Principally, most of the USB devices uses RCA plugs (2 audio, 1 video) and a S-Video plug. But if you choose to buy a card (TV Tuner Card or Capture Card), it might be more complicated has 60% of the cards dont offer RCA plugs (which the image is more clear in my opinion). Some will only have the video RCA plug (yellow) and will have an audio jack plug instead of the RCA's, dont panic you can use it by buying a Y audio cable (2 RCA, 1 jack), and a RCA adapter (2 RCA - 2 RCA). Most of the cards has the analogic cable plug, but I dont recommend to use this plug because its not that clear. Its your choice
After choosing your part, you need to install it in the tower (if card) and install the softwares. I will not follow you in these operations, its simple to install a part and software. Dont worry if your device/card does not work the first time, maybe you need to upgrade some drivers before.
Hook up your TV, VCR, or PS2 on the device/card, and enjoy the ride.
Heres a quick list of some recommended devices and cards (No TV-Tuner Card are in that list):
Adaptec Videoh PCI (PCI Card)
Adaptec Videoh USB (USB Device)
ADS Instant Video PCI (PCI Card)
ADS Instant Video USB (USB Device)
ATi TV-Wonder USB II (USB Device, Altho I dont recommend it due to the number of bad reviews I saw about it)
AVerMedia devices and cards (Most of them are very popular and reputed to work very well)
Hauppauge devices and cards (Most of them are very popular and works well)
Kworld Xpert PCI DVD Maker (PCI Card)
Pinnacle Dazzle DVC90 (USB Device, very well reputed)
More can be added, just tell me.
Hope it can help some people.
