Creating Thumbnails

Well a few days ago I started up GT5 and my data had reset, luckily I back-up daily or if not then every two days. Unfortunately, at least 80% of my cars have lost their thumbnails. I know there is a "Create Thumbnails of all Cars" feature which I want to use. What I need to know however is how long it would take to do 1033 cars? Should I put this on when I go for breakfast or when I go to bed?
 
For that many cars I'd say it will take a couple of hours! :(

Also you have to do premium cars and then also standards. Well I did, it didn't just do both but only the full set or which ever one I was on. Standards for me took the longest as I have many many more. The premium didn't actually take too long at all,maybe half an hour or so.

Edit: tree'd! Maybe it was just mine that took so long! :(

Yeah, looks like I'll be coming on/off/on/off looking for whether the first set is done :lol:

Oh.... That's not good. Well I'm going to do this later on, I'll post about whether it actually worked properly.

I don't know. Maybe I had some problems with my disc? :confused: I cannot say that the 'Create Thumbnail on all Cars' had no use at all. Maybe you will do it just fine.

Also, 600th post for me (601 now :grumpy:)

You may have to exit the garage and then go back in to see your refreshed thumbnails. Or, scroll past all thumbnails... they refresh whilst off screen.

I don't know. I now create the cars' thumbnails one by one, instead of clicking the 'Create Thumbnail for all cars' button :)

The 410 Premiums went fine, took about an hour.

The 623 standards however took me around 8 hours, I stopped coming to check after about 5 hours.

All the thumbnails appear to be there 👍

I got abt 800 standards and it took 60 min :lol:
Not sure how mutch thumbmails were missing..

I think there were actually at least 90%-95% of the Standards missing. Either way I had a boring day :lol:

:lol: I did think a 1 hour estimate was a bit ambitious! But 8 hours :ouch:

Oh well at least you didn't have to do it manually like in the old days! :lol: :p

I can't complain all that much considering the only input I did was Traingle, down about 5 spaces then X twice. Glad it wasn't 8 hours of work :lol:
 
Seems silly that you can't just create thumbnails for those cars which don't have them? I have maybe 15 cars which don't have thumbnails or have incorrect ones, but I have 200 cars total (nothing compared to some of you...)

You can do 1 by 1 but if you have more than about 50 without then it would take so long to go through one by one that you may as well do them all in one go.
 
I had similiar issue as the original OP except that this happened after installing a new hard drive. Most were done correctly but I have some that were not fixed correctly. I have a few that still show the wrong thumbnail ie. My 62 Buick shows a go kart and one of my Muscle Cars shows a Triumph Spitfire ect. . Does anyone know how to fix this or am I just going to have to live with it. The only option that I know of is to send the cars to a friend and then have him send them back to. I know I can't send the Buick since it was a prize car. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
