I like building random crap like flashlights and minature fans. I've built a lathe that's small enough to turn a bar of soap. I kinda want to build a turbocharger jet engine, and hook it up to a centrifugal supercharger to make more thrust.(since the "business" end of a centri-supercharger is the same as on a turbo, I figured it would make thrust without heat.) I realize I'd have to use gears on the contraption because the turbo end would burn/melt any belt-driven system. I know almost entirely how the ignition and propulsion would work, but the oil bit is the most confusing to me. Would I need an oil pump for it? Also, I plan on this being installed into a vehicle, which would have an electric motor for just cruising around, and the jet for high speeds. Also, with the jet propelling the car/truck, the electric motor would spin, recharging the battery. I'm also thinking of running the jet off of alcohol/ethanol. I know how to make "moonshine", so running it on alcohol would be cheap.

also, sorry for the rant.

A jet sounds abit difficult. considering your previous experiance. I would suggest one of these.

Pulse jets are very simple to make (however don't ask me how).

Or if you are set on the jet idea then I would suggest a go kart to attach it too. However it would be a brute. An electric motor on itself are quick.

A jet engine go kart is completely different they would require incredible engineering and are very expensive.

I would suggest if you wanted a project this.

pulse jet = failjet in my opinion. they don't last more than a few seconds, and I already have plans for the turbocharger jet I want to build. I'm more electronically inclined, but I am a little mechanically inclined. I've installed many a performance part on cars before, so I think a turbocharger jet engine wouldn't be the hardest in the world. anyway, it's been done by others hundreds of times, so I think it's worth a try.
