My only comment on this is that Bathurst would be nuts if they don't have a tribute to Peter Brock at Bathurst. He's royalty at Australia's greatest proving ground. And after reading the most recent posts, my condolences to Mark Porter.

I have no further comments than wish everyone competing have a fun and safe race.

I have to agree that Holden fans are a bit one-eyed in their support, but let's not forget that even Brocky himself drove a Ford Sierra at one stage.

Well done Seto! I knew you weren't past your used by date.

The race was over about 25 hours-ish ago. They had a tribute to him before the race began, including a moment of silence.
The Holden Racing Team had their bonnets black, rather than red as a sign of respect and the winner of the race also got a trophy dedicated to Brocky.
It was really great, a very emotional race.

Paul Radisich is a lucky boy after having to be cut out of the Team Kiwi car. The rescue team had to cut the roof off the car and cut the chassis to get Radisich out. He was flown to Nepean Hospital at Penrith and was found to have a broken ankle and a broken chest bone. I think it's safe to say he won't be at Indy in two weeks.
The car is obviously a write off and Team Kiwi don't have a spare. With their level of licence they are only required to attend 80% of the races but the second last round at Bahrain is compulsory for the team regardless of who the driver is. They may have to lease out the licence to another team as Britek did with Mark Porter for round two at Pukekohe or they could lease a car from somewhere. It wouldn't be worthwhile for the team to buy a Commodore as they are running Fords next year as Team Kiwi is running Fords in the New Zealand V8 Series. Could they buy a Falcon to finish off this season? Holden wouldn't be happy.

Ive always seen Ford fans going nuts when they win and act like they are gods (just from personal experience), but whatever both side have thier stupid boguns that ruin things.

Truth is I wanted to see Glen seaton win even though I wanted Holden to win (can't have both :(), especially after Skaife was out, but I am still happy that Lowndes won.

oh cool Ricky, Adelaide next, i might be able to go and look at that:)

The Skyline has been re-named Brock's Skyline, a statue of the man has been proposed (and confirmed, I believed, but they're still deciding where it should go), the Motorsport Museum at Mount Panorama is having a new wing built to hold all of the Brock memrobilia in the museum, a new hotel is being built adjacent to the Chase and room 05 is going to his estates, the winner will from now on receive the Peter Brock Trophy and the walls of the circuit are covered in tributes. As was already mentioned, HRT ran with black bonnets and Craig Lowndes had a black armband on his racing suit.

I have to say, there's been a lot of bad sportsmanship among Holden fans. I've heard a lot of them say Ford never should have been allowed to win because Peter Brock was a Holden driver and therefore Holden was the only team allowed to win. When we pointed out Criag Lowndes was Brock's protege and friend, they labelled him a traitor because he swapped sides. I've even heard people say Brock would be turning in his grave that Ford won, but if he were turning his his grave, it would be over the behaviour of Holdne fans. I know I'd be disgusted if someone said another driver didn't deserve to win purely because he drove for another team. Fortunately, I have seen anyone do that around here.

I find it highly ironic that Holden fans support their team because it's an Australian brand but when it comes to the end of the race, they're incredibly un-Australian. When Holden wins, Ford fans just keep going about their business and let Holden celebrate. When Ford wins, Holden fans have tantrums and whinge and moan for weeks to come.

Now that my rant's over, I have to say this was always going to go down as one of the biggest Bathurst 1000 races, but it was truly epic. Those last seven laps were incredibly tense. I don't think Skaife could have won it if he had have made it back to the pits; it would have taken the HRT boys a ot of time to fix that clutch and then it would have taken a supreme effort just to stay on the lead lap. I think pretty much anyone who won the race would have done it for Brocky, and while they had the privelige to do so, I think the only man with the right to do it was Craig Lowndes.

That is entirely true, I have noticed that occurring everywhere in the motor racing fraternity. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a Ford supporter, I've also observed a portion of Holden Commodore drivers on the road displaying very cocky, immature and ridiculous behaviour. I am not labelling every Commodore driver as above, but I have noticed quite a few that fit this description. Not good.

Personally i think the new Commodore is seriously ugly, the last one was WAY better looking and a million times more aggressive.

EVERY time i see it i instantly think Astra (either HOlden, Opel or Vauxhall). Honest to god, it looks way too much like an Astra for a $1.3b or so car. And just as i thought, the race car looks similar to the DTM Astras.

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks it looks amazingly like an Astra. I tell people and they think I'm smoking something. But a couple of weeks ago an Astra SRi was parked next to a VE SV6. Almost identical.

The Skyline has been re-named Brock's Skyline...
That was re-named for when he retired in 1997. I went to Bathurst a few weeks ago for Brock's memorial service and both walls at Brock's Skyline were plastered with messages and memories people had written on the wall.
