So, i've purchased an Asus Rog Ares II graphics card, and was thinking about a picture I saw on a site regarding crossfiring different 7970's.

I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 3GB GDDR5, 925MHz now.

On this picture it says that all variants of 7970's can be crossfired against each other, at least thats what I imagine it says. :D

I also found this thread on the Asus forums regarding crossfire of 2 different 7970's.

Was wondering if anyone knew if this is really possible without getting any trouble?
I mean, crossfire Asus Rog Ares II with my Sapphire 7970? So I kinda get 3 cards. ;)

Should be fine, as long as the architecture (ie two 7970's) is the same brand doesn't matter.
I do exactly that with my two 7850's.

Cheers Shaun.

I think you're mistaking something. the Ares Rog 2 is already a crossfire of two 7970, so he's asking if you can put another 7970 and if it will work like you would have a 3x 7970 config.

Exactly.

A friend of mine said it would work, but im not so sure.

So I wonder if I should start advertising the Sapphire 7970 for sale, or if I should try crossfire it to get 3 x 7970's. :D

The Rog II won't arrive until like mid June though. So got plenty of time. :)

That's that crazy huge card that comes with a radiator, right?

Yeah, it's pretty sweet looking thingy.

Normal price was 12 000 NOK, which is roughly $2050 USD.
Got it for 7 500 NOK, or $1281 USD.

Amazing bargain! :D
