CSR Bundle - help me decide

So many of you may have seen the Forza Motorsport CSR Wheel Value Pack XL now onsale for $360... I've heard good reviews, but everyone raves about how much better the CSR Elite is - I'm on the fence about this.

It would be almost $400 MORE for the CSR Elite, plus the CSR Elite Pedals & CSR Shifter Set...

So basically double the price. I'm currently running the DFGT - and it's ok... the pedals are horrid, but I've learned to live with them for the most part - I can drive without ABS (sorta), although I have to listen for the impending lockup sound (or pump the brakes), rather than use feel.

Is the Elite wheel THAT far and above? Or should I just jump on the combo deal (which I assume would be a huge upgrade over the DFGT), and upgrade the wheel at a later date?

That being said, I don't want to drop $360 + shipping and be disappointed, but I have seen very little info regarding the CSR, and how good the wheel is; just that the CSR Elite is "on a different" level.

Anyway... just looking for more info from perhaps someone who's gone from a DFGT to a CSR and is happy, or someone who's tried both, and will tell me "save your pennies young man, and get the Elite".

Thanks.

It really depends. I upgraded to a CSR Bundle (non-XL) from a DFP back in December and I'm very content with my setup. However, I am keeping an eye on what Fanatec has up their sleeve for their next XBOX360-compatiable steering wheel. The CSR Elite is a work of art, but it's too early to tell what their plans are for it with interchangeable wheels. I'd like to see more options before I pull the trigger on a $500+ wheel. If I had waited until now to buy something, I would have bought the CSR XL Bundle, but I'm content with the regular CSR pedals (with inversion kit) until the new ClubSport Pedals (V2 or whatever) come out.

I had the csr value pack in my shoping cart and was getting ready to check out when my computer crashed... It took me a week or so to get back online and after i did there was all these people raving about the elite. it was waaaaay out of my price range but the more i read about it the more the devil on my left shoulder kept telling me how i could justify it to the wife. i couldnt take the thought of spending hundreds of dollars on something and still felling like i shouldve bought something else. i have been in love with my elite now for 2 months and even though my bank account is hurting, i turn it on and play and have absolutely no buyer's remorse, its worth every penny. every man needs a hobby, i asked myself what my number one hobby was and it was sim racing. my buddy just spent $5000 on a bicycle, so how is one of the greatest sim racing wheels and pedal sets not worth $700? well this poor man thinks it is

True...

However, coming from a DFP (or DFGT), any of the current Fanatec Wheels/Pedals would be an upgrade. This guy would be spending around $600 +shipping for a Wheel/Pedal setup if he got the CSR Elite Wheel. Maybe I'm weird, but I rather drive the slow car first to appreciate the faster car after.

I previously owned a Driving Force GT wheel and pedals and a Fanatec GT2 wheel. I now have a Forza CSR with Clubsport pedals, and a CSR Elite wheel with a second set of Clubsports. The Driving Force GT is a solid entry level wheel, but the CSR and GT2 are significant upgrades in every respect, including compatibility, adjustability and force feedback. The CSR Elite is in a class by itself and even though I love my CSR, the Elite is a step above. If you can afford it, get the Elite with some Clubsport pedals. I have never regretted my purchase of these supreme products.

Its not so much a matter of affording it, but it being worth the extra $389.95. I could buy two csr XL bundles for that price. Now if they would just bundle the elite... I'd pull the trigger today.

Dunno. I'd hate to be disappointed with the csr... I'd equally hate feeling the additional $389.95 wasn't worth it.

I have my elite now since more then one week and can say, it's the best wheel I ever had.
I used Logitech for many years and was very happy with all the wheels I owned, but the elite is a class of it's own.
On the other hand, you have to be aware, that there could be some "baby issues" with the wheel and the bundle for the CSR is really a killer offer.
Personally, I would go for the elite any time again ;)

Yes i appreciated my elite because i have been a microsoft wheel user for 5 years... Talk about an upgrade. point is, once you get bit by the bug, you will always crave more, and i dont think the csr would be a big enough step forward from the dfgt for you to feel good about spending $300 for one. ugpgrade yes, but its not the huge leap you would really notice like you would with an elite. i always enjoyed playing racing games with an entry level wheel, but now it kinda feels like a whole different hobby, but in a good way. i feel more connected to actual racing drivers because the elite has the torque and prescision to recreate the intense forces working against a real race car driver.
My finance option was that i only had enough to buy a decent sim rig (like a playseat) and decent wheel (csr/g27) to go with it, so instead i built my own rig out of galvanized pipe and used the money i saved to buy the ultimate wheel. plus i saved some money by switching to Geico... hehe

Bottom line:

If you buy the CSR, you will be satified. It's a great wheel.

If you spend the extra cash on a CSR Elite, you will be glad you did it.

It's simply in another league

Kinda the answer I was looking for; I'd hate to drop the $400 (w/shifter and pedals) and feel it wasn't a huge upgrade. Ok, Elite it is. I'll forgo the shifter at this point to save a bit of scratch. Unfortunately, they look to be out of stock until mid march on the Elite - guess I'll have to be patient.
