Forza is coming out next week and I want a wheel to play it with. I don't have a Microsoft and definitely want to buy one of the new csr's. I saved up some to cash to get the elite but my question is: is it going to be THAT much better to justify both the price and the time before they actually start producing them?

Let me put it like this:

CSR is technically a GT2 wheel with a different rim whilst CSR Elite is CSW with restrictions imposed by Microsoft.
CSR Elite, hands down.

Awesome, that pushed me over the edge to wait. I was going to sell my buddy (who was going to pick up GT5 used) my old DFGT so that saves some money. Then also we can play 2player on GT5 so everybody wins.

Fanatec Comparison Chart

Let me put it this way, and why I ordered the CSR.

1) GT2 wheel imo has that old Porsche design and no analog stick for browsing menus.

2) CSR has the new FM4 rim design. Both the GT2 and CSR have 1 Mabuchi 550 series motor for Force Feedback.

3) The biggest difference I see between the CSR and CSR-E is that it has one more Mabuchi 550 series motor in it. Granted it may help...but double the price for one more small part? Nope.

4) I also am upgrading from a DFGT and there is no way is the CSR-E worth the money for me. I only care about realistic driving and not (slowly) inter-changable rims.

5) Longer wait for the CSR-E...another 2 months? Who knows, but my DFGT needs to be upgraded STAT

Just by looking at that Fanatec comparison chart, will the CSR pedal (not the CSR Elite) will be in a cheaper price in comparison between the CSR Elite and Clubsport pedals?

BTW thanks Jump_Ace for that link.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say yes the CSR Pedals will be cheaper than the Clubsport Pedals. Looking here the CSR Elite Pedals are $50 (US) cheaper than the Clubsport Pedals. So I'd assume the CSR Pedals may be a little cheaper than the CSR Elite Pedals for say, $130-ish?

ClubSport is Fanatec's top line; wheel, CSW; pedals. CSP; shifter. CSS and handbrake(future), CSHB.

If its atleast in that price, then I'll definetely buy it, to stop my exploration of a used G25/G27 pedal.

Been toying with these 2 wheels as well. Figured, the only reason I would be going for the Elite is because of the interchangable wheel rims.

EDIT: Someones post back in may in this forum:

Good thread! I have also done alot of searching on this.
From what I have found: Correct me if I'm wrong...

900* or more 2.5 or more full turns lock to lock: Usually anything from average road cars to sports cars.

720* + or - (2.0 more or less turns lock to lock) Drift cars. Multiple classes of Rally cars (group N)

540* + or - (1.5 more or less turns lock to lock) GT1 and 3 spec race cars, and WRC Rally cars.

360* + or - (1.0 more or less turns lock to lock) Formula 1 cars.

This has been my collective knowledge...I could be wrong.
Obviously not all race cars use those exact degrees, from what I understand alot of race cars have unique steering locks.

I thought the way the CSR Elite detected movement was more precise than the CSR. The sensor was placed on the wheel itself or something. I forget where I read that but the article made it a point to make that distinction. Again, worth the price? Otherwise I couuuuuld just get the CSR and with the saved money get nicer pedals.

Problem for me is, I am in the same situation but I want the CSW, because of the specs and F1 wheel attachment. Only problem is, If I decide to get FM4, I will want the elite. Overarching problem is, they are both over $500, lol

i really wish my thrustmaster would work on forza.looks like ill be waiting for the CSR Elite also. is there a release date yet?

You have time especially if you are considering the Elite wheel. In the meantime, there will be a ton of user reviews (me included :)) as the CSR's and Elite pedals start to land in racer's hands within the next week or so.

The best wheel will be the one that you feel comfortable with the cost vs fun factor. If you had to sell your house to buy a Ferrari would it be the best car for you?

How good do you guys think the chances will be of these wheels being compatible with the next Xbox console?

That can also influence buying choice. For instance, buying something as expensive as the Elite, one would want to know that it will work with Forza games on Microsoft's next gen console.

Sony seems to stay consistent with peripheral support. Only thing that wasn't supported out of the box was old DS2 controllers, and that's because they were wired and used a port that does not exist on a PS3 natively. I know some people were probably disappointed when some of their original xbox stuff became obsolete after the release of the xbox 360.

Hard to say with no development kits or info for the next gen available yet.

Don`t want to flame but, IMHO, consoles soft is currently far from this hardware, i mean, even CSR/GT2 wheels are capable to do more than the software allows us to (see FM4 steering assist posts).

Long story short, to play on consoles CSR is more than enough.

Lets hope the usb connectors make the wheels compatible, but if not, all of them work for the PC. So for those of us that don't do sim racing on the PC, start saving your money to build a system, because PC sim racing is awesome

Bingo. console titles doesn't take advantage of FFB wheels since majority will still use a controller so game developer doesn't want them at a disadvantage over a wheel. Notice how much buzz Turn 10 made over Kinect (not very useful for a driving game) vs ffb wheel .

According to Microsoft past record not very good. It's totally up to Microsoft if these wheels are compatible with the next generation Xbox.
