    Cummins Diesel Special #8 Indy Car, 1931

    The 1931 Cummins Diesel Special qualified 43rd in the Indianapolis 500 race car lineup, Mr Rickenbacker guaranteeing the Cummins Diesel Special a spot on the 40 car field. The car was the slowest car on the Indianapolis grid, but due to its fuel efficiency it completed the entire 500 mile (805 km) race without a pit stop securing a record and a 13th place finish averaging 86.170 mph (138.677 km/h).
