Custom Helmet designs?

Hey everyone,

I'm new here but have enjoyed all the posts I've seen thus far!
I was chatting to a mate of mine who does programming for MAC's etc and my question to him was that there must be a way to break into the GT5 game programing and extract a helmet/ suit. with this extracted file you could presumably get a graphic designer to design a custom helmet and this could then be forced back into the game?

I am interested in doing this as I race in the South African Formula Vee championship and resently got a new helmet sponsored by RayBan and Liqui Moly - I rate if I could get my GT5 'avatar' to look like me that would be awesome.

does any one know if this could be done?

If this was a PC game then yes, it could be done easily.

I agree with you that a game programmer could, if they knew what language and how the files were stored etc, create new tracks, cars, liveries, helmets and suits, however it would require alot of hacking and finding the game files. And even then you would probably have to trick it into thinking that they are DLC.

In short. Yes but it would probably take years of trial and error.

The year is 2012 and you're asking if someone could "break" into a PS3 game, modify it's content and put it back in there for everyone to enjoy it ?

I cannot wait to read what other people will have to say about that.

Repeat after me: "A PS3 is NOT a PC, GT5 cannot be altered nor modified by people NOT working for PD".

the idea behind it isnt ridiculous just difficult to undertake.
Members of this forum should be willing to help and be willing to push them selves and what they think is posible - its natural progression.

Not looking for Sympathy just looking for positive imput - how is it fair for someone to shut down a question that has validity. If this community is all for the idea that someones ideas are worth nothing than that sucks - what I was replying to is a dudes sarcastic comment implying he knows the world.

Not wanting to cause any friction - but dont expect members to shut my idea down.
