Despite being in San Francisco, the summers here can get QUITE hot, so:
Using a tiny Radioshack cooling fan, and two 9V batteries, I made a makeshift 'personal summer fan'

To turn mine on, you connect an alligator grip to the red wire in the back.

Total cost:
Radioshack 12V 1"x1" cooling fan- 11.99USD
2 Duracell 9V batteries- 4.99USD
Total-17USD

This provides a good amount of cooling to a single person's face, so dont expect to cool a room:dunce:

connected in series. :sly:

Just wondering wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a small AC fan? (No recurring battery replacement costs)
You can buy a cheap pedestal fan here for about $15.

Cheers Shaun.

I got three of these fans wired in 5V parallel with USB. Makes such nice air even at 5 volts and it's silent too(I can feel it up to two feet away).

Also if it's a 12v fan then you are overvolting the fan and killing it's lifespan. The fan I posted should make great air at 9 volts.

AC isn't portable:dunce:

I have, however, adapted a AC outlet to run my fan at 6V, about 1/2 of the fan's max voltage

There's always the risk of short circuit, but I'm broke so I need to use anything I have:D

I bought a USB fan for my office desk at around 30元 which I think is around a couple of dollars. It's much cheaper than if I'd had made one.

Nice, that would make a good PC cooler. My uninsulated room gets to 30C in the summer, and I'm not allowed to use the air conditioner unless it is near 30, this would be a good cheap alternative. :D
