Custom Soundtrack - Cant hear cars engine during race

I have a custom soundtrack for races. It may just be my game but for some reason half the time my music is playing, but i cant hear the engine which sucks especially since i use manual and kinda need to hear the engine to know when to shift instead have having to check the bottom corner. For some reason the only things i can hear are the tires squealing and other cars and sometimes even the sounds sometimes go in and out abruptly. Is anyone else having this issue because it is quite annoying.
