It's a good idea, but also a flawed one, heres why:
Due to the way in which the game generates the courses its inevitable that you will see the same course generated more than once, I've only created one course and in about a year of playing GT5 online I have seen exact duplicates of it 3 times online.
Maybe that would be possible if customizing tracks in GT5 was more specific, like being able to shape the track with your controller, make elevation changes, etc. Because unfortunately people can make the same track as you as mentioned above.
And brainfade, ya'll is a real word where I come from.
There is already a couple of threads about this over in the course maker forum. There simply hasn't been any interest. Only a few of us dedicated track "designers" share our tracks in the forum.

Considering that I've made many hundreds of custom tracks, and I've never seen an exact duplicate come up, I doubt that. Unless you shared this track and others have been using it.
Given the way the generator works there are a limited number of layouts, but that number is quite large.
I just see a lot of excitement over the new Spa track.. when really.. it's not that great of a track.
So I can only wonder.. how many people don't even know custom tracks exist....
The generation system is limited... anyhow... if you look at PC gaming, it's custom everything.. when I see GT5 I see people complain about everything, but when they are given what they complained about they don't bother to use it... prime examples being:
custom tracks
time change
weather
DAMAGE MODEL (3million complainers and exactly 10 people online using it).
