custom transmission issue?

I have a custom transmission on a ferrari 599 (823bhp). Whenever it is 'on' it gets to the red line in 6th gear and kind of 'hiccups' in 6th gear, vastly reducing my top speed.

Before=220-230mph, after=190
I set it to be 180mph instead of 205 in the 'max power' area to get better acceleration, but my top speed was nerfed to 170mph! so much for the sarthe course against maclerans, etc.

My question is, is this a bug or is some other part affecting this? If i put the standard transmission back on I can get back up to 220 mph on daytona.

Umm, that's how a transmission works. You can either have acceleration or top speed, you don't get to pick both.

If you set the top speed in the custom transmission to 180, you'll get about 170, because it reports a higher number than your actual redline (for some reason, kind of annoying).

The hiccup you describe is it bouncing off the rev limiter, and it takes time to get back up to speed after you bounce it off. When you're at the limit you need to use throttle control to stay at your top speed without hitting the limiter.

For Le Mans you'll want to set a higher top speed, so that you'll get to the redline just before the corner after the longest straight, or possibly before. You never want to NOT get to the redline on a course, because that means you gave up acceleration for top speed, but never used the top speed.
