you know, this sucks, because this is just gonna be another "fad", like having the stickers from F'n'F on your car, or riced out cars, pretty soon its gonna be "gay" to be a drifter, and those of us that truley love the sport, and always have, are gonna get SHAFTED and tagged as losers when its all said and done, but you know what, I say let the ricers have a go at it, either they will learn the hard way, or wind up wrapped around a telephone pole or the like (preferably the latter).

Bryan... D1 was here last year and drifting isnt dead... THe only way the ricers(dont like the term) will kill drifting is if you klet them... your only ready helping them by what you just said.. Dont let people get to you. People have the right to do whatever they want if they want a certain body kit then fine they paid for it.The drifting fad has only begun...

yea bryan...u got a problem with imports? cuz it sounds like u a american car lover...if so the stang is america's version of a "rice rocket ", plus how can drifting be " all said and done" when it new in the US and when Japan need compatetion? the more people c the shows and are impressed the more people will try it and learn and imporve on there skill, nothing in the D1 will ever get old, there will be new techniques that will come up and new people to show them off to others....

P.S. plenty of street racers have been " rapped around a poll " and so have people that jsut speed and not race :) :trouble:

I've been saying this since... yeah.

Unique = Fad
Fad = Capitalization
Captialization = Advertisement
Advertisement = Mass Appeal
Mass Appeal + Unique = No longer unique.

It's this vicious cycle that 'consumers' follow with pretty much everything interesting.
When GT4 comes out, I'm sure every PS2 owner who likes cars will buy it eventually and if they've played NFS:U and found drifting interesting, it will be like "ohh so this is what drifting is really like!" *consume*
However, "gay" would be a pretty harsh label drifting after it's been used up. It will probably just lose that appeal and the skill won't be as respected.

Uh, hell no, I hate american cars, there are only like a few american cars worth owning, and they were all ~1975

Although I do agree to this statement.

But on the other hand, I do love the 240, and I wish I could have made it to see the D1GP, but, you know how things work out sometimes, there's just no way to get things done when you don't have enough leave acquired. LOL.

Have fun bro, and good luck (if you compete)

I wish I could go, but I'm on the other side of the country. Oh well.

Here's a couple cars that will be competing.

No...not the civic. :lol:

Go APC!! Seriously though, I hope they fix their image. I'd like to be able to buy some quality parts at Pep Boys. Supposedly they're supposed to be working with M Sports or K Style to come up with some quality stuff, but I haven't seen any evidence that they're actually doing that and I heard it months ago. Oh well. At least they're sponsoring demos and paying for Team Orange's expenses. That's a start I guess.

not to start trouble, but after reading over a few times, lol, how does that = bryan = american car lover. I seen bryan's vids...and ...i think most of the cars are imports.

and on a stupid lighter not, for a second, in that pic of the silver s13, i thot that front bumper was an addition to the wing..... :p :lol:

I am a dumbass......:D

and yes.....sooner or later, this "fad" that has been my personal fav. hobby for the last two years, will become mainstream....and....horrible...but ill still be there drifting, i think

Just wait until GT4, man. This forum will overflow with rediculously newbish questions about drifting.

"what teh best car?!!11"
"plz help me learn 2 drfto"
"i em teh suck at the drifting sport set up my car for me"

I think drifting is mainstream now lol... We already have drifting evenst out in the states and alots of drift forums...

Lets look at it this way gt3 drifting has gone mainstream here at gtp and it isnt horrible...So just add a few more factors for real life and it will be ok nothing to worry about. as long as the true drifters keep it real..Everything will be all right you have to follow that otherwise it will be horrible.. plus a few months back signal made an apearence on CNN and nothing horrible has happened... We already deal with rice idiots, we can handle and weed out the fake drifters plus they will get scared when they start to slide and wont have the money to pay for thier tires cause they waste it on useless stuff. I'm all for drifting becoming mainstream.

Drifting on GTP is far from mainstream.
1000hp cars on GTP are mainstream.

Add about 400-500 more drifters here. Then you'll have mainstream drifting.

i agree with street fighter becuase once gt4 hits online alot of ppl will be racing on our servers if we have one and we will be drifting and they will ask what are we doing

I dont think drifting will be anywhere near as huge as the little rice burners are right now. I have seen like 5-6 240sx's and all of them but one were bone stock (one had aftermarket rims). And most people will get tired of going through a set of tires every day and decide they want to do something else. I dono, I just dont think drifting will become too big of a fad (most of the people at my h.s. probablly dont know what the hell drifting is :lol: )

Well i just got back from D1GP...It was absolutely awseome. I will post a few pics in a min. I must have seen at least 50+ 240's in the parking lot along with a few skylines too!

That Fd got fudged.....and yea just to ask yet again, it is true that gt4 online modes will only allow arcade type cars, or how is it gonna go....?
Can we use our own cars in regular races? and not in this D1 type event i hear is also included, can someone be kind enough as to go through the same rundown with me again?

ahh.....just got back from the D1GP....amazing stuff.....kazama and his kei-office s15 won with taniguchi(sp?) in second and nomura in third....man that was fun....n i ran off with kazama's tire!!!!!:D

omg you got his tire?!?!?! i wanted fukuda's 180sx front bumper...

and that pacific rim S13 got ****ED up hahahaha

it was a good time guys, kumakubo was going crazy, he was steering perfectly every single tandem run, only problem is he kept hitting cones =[

but him and kazama were coming insanely close to each other, it was craaaazy....
