D500 external speaker

I couldn't really see anywhere alse for this thread, so here goes.
Anyone here have one of the little speakerphones for the D500? Well I know that they are compatible with the D600 (The phone I have) aswell. The only trouble is, when I plug it in, the screen blanks out, and the sound gets alot quieter than without the speaker. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? I have looked on the Samung website, and searched on Google to no avail.

My Dad has had one of those speakers before, I dont think they worked very well or at-all.
