How do you get 50mpg? Or is mpg calculated different in Canada like it is in the UK?

I use Fuelly to track it, and I had a tank recently where I drove 344km on 14.7L of gas, that works out to 4.3L/100km, which is 54mpg. It's my best tank so far, and was that good because I was driving with my girlfriend who is nervous about people other than her mom driving her. As such, I drove 80km/h the whole time, which keeps the car at around 1.8k RPM. I recently did another long road trip, and I think I got very good fuel economy on it as well, but I won't know until I fill up again.

My girlfriend's '98 blazer had an ounce of metal shaving come out of it last time I changed the oil, and her tranny has metal shavings all up in it too. The thing won't die! It was running on a junked fuel pump for a while, ac works sometimes, 4x4 works. Sounds like it's dying but it still runs strong. 103,000 on the odometer. And it was stolen in Tenn. and brought down here where it got sold, and then had the crap beaten out of it, and then my gf got it. It's insane how it keeps running like nothing is wrong.

My truck runs on a steady diet of hopes, dreams, and curse words

Literally an hour after typing this, the blazer is most likely dead. Rad cap blew off, overheated and just died

I've had my trusty Mazda 3 for five years and 76,000 miles. Next spring, I'm toying with the idea of finding a suitable Owner #2 for it...another 4-wheeled friend is on my mind ;).

Still rocking the Z?

I picked up my 2006 GTI with ~21k on the clock in May 2007. Now at 87,500 miles and making fewer trips to the shop than it ever has since I've had it. Running great for the most part, somehow. I've been thinking about getting rid of it for a while now though.

Had my Audi ur-quattro Turbo about a year and a half now, put about 10,000 miles on it.
