Just reading my GameInformer that came in the mail today, and there was a snippet in the news section that caught me completely off guard, considering GTplanet is usually where I get all my GT info first. I can't find a link to an online article and I don't want to quote it word for word, but here is the good stuff touched on.

Gran Turismo 5
Gets Even More Realistic

..."Damage is an intigral part of racing, and we're taking it to the next level." says studio president Kazunori Yamauchi. ...

...This update gives every player a new garage that just holds two cars - then the fun begins. "Car customization is so realistic that only an actual mechanic could possibly understand what's happening" says Yamauchi.

Gamers who aren't familiar with how cars work can still interact with their vehicles by inspecting the garage floor for mysterious stains and leaks, trying to suss out why the "check engine" light won't stop blinking, and popping the hood to stare impotently at the bewildering mess of an engine. Once their car stops running or gets in a wreck, players must turn to the people on their friends list, asking for a virtual ride to the game's microtransaction-supported repair shop. "We're intent on bringing players the most realistic experience on the market today" Yamauchi insists. "This is what driving is all about."

yeah i can believe this is real. I'd love to be wrong though!!

Anyone know where i can get scans of this need to read that artical.

Hmm... so either it's real, or GI is pulling everybody's legs? The article makes no mention of a release date, or what the patch version will be.

Um yeah all nice and good, but here's the bugger: How do they want to achieve that, when the game runs already with noticably <60 frames a second, come on, I believe it, when I play it, not when I see it, they can show much...

If this is the April edition i believe it´s the april´s fool joke that most gaming magazines do in the United States.

Seems like it.

That's interesting and, as far as I know, completely new! Can you scan that magazine? (I suppose it's a paper magazine ... ) Please? :)

Ha, repairing cars front ends from bashing the ring, ooh err.

Surely not

This thread is going to be tooooooo funny once it gets to a couple of pages and people don't realize this is an April Fool's joke.

If you all really want the most realistic damage, go buy a piece of garbage off craiglist that requires a trailer to get it home. It shouldn't run you more than $200 tops. That way you can *actually* learn how to fix things.

This sounds like a total joke or the worlds most hilariously bad game feature.

Not even gonna let them dangle for a while?

Oh so NOW damage is "an integral part of racing"? I don't know what to think of this "article"

Yeah, I often see the Flying Lizard GT car pulled off on the side of the track while the driver calls his friend for a ride to the shop. This is certainly the most realistic simulation of race damage to ever be implemented.

Damn it is the April edition... probably an April fools joke. Dissapointment.

Maybe by playing this everyone will become a better mechanic or have a greater understanding how car engines react when you push 500HP on a daily basis. "Inspecting the stains on the floor," I feel like a detective already. Honestly I can't wait!
