This is strange, because I thought I wasn't able to fix it. But, I was able to make a few changes for the better. I'm still going to go ahead and check everything just in case, but this is looking better.

I restarted the server the other night before I went to bed, without checking to see that everything had survived. But, it looks like it corrupted the searchindex table in the forum's database when that happened, causing the problems.
