Let me tell you a tale of woe....

So I pick up Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast yesterday. I bring it home, only to find out that I won't be able to save my game. For some inexplicable reason, this very simple arcade racer requires a whopping 1.4MB of game-save space (roughly the same as TT and GT4 require). And I'm down to about 500K on my card.

I delete a couple of things I can do without.. GT4 film data, TOCA3 ghost data, etc. Manage to get it up to about 800K free.

Not a problem, I say to myself. I'll just ask for another memory card for my birthday, coming up in just a few weeks (save me twenty-five bucks, right? :)) And in the meantime, I'll just move a few of my lesser-used game-saves to my handy little Max Drive.

Big mistake.

Apparently, there's a flaw in the Max Drive software that they don't tell you about. It's "Move" function doesn't work properly. While it successfully copied over all my lesser-used game saves, and deleted them from my memory card, it somehow managed to irrevocably corrupt all of the remaining game saves on my memory card.

In other words, the only game saves I have left are the lesser-played ones I was putting into "storage" on my PC.

Gone is GT4. Gone is Tourist Trophy. Gone is Shadow of the Colossus. God of War. Hot Shots Golf. TOCA3. Silent Hill.

Gone.

I'm pissed.

Damn, sorry to hear that. I ahd a max drive and it broke my memory card. Really buggy things, my advice to everyone is to steer clear.

:ouch:

Crap, that must really suck. I'd get mad even if I just lost my GT4 save data. I don't know what I'd do if I lost all of them.

But then again, it IS 3rd party software that isn't endorsed by Sony. So it's bound to have a lot of bugs in it that could corrupt a lot of stuff. :indiff:

Sorry to hear that.

You should first COPY all saves you don't need/want on the memory card to the maxdrive, and then RESTART AND DELETE MANUALLY VIA PS2's browser.

I had the same thing happen to me,but then I learned how to use it.

(Caps for better chance of memorising it)

If I lost all the big saves like all the GTA's and GT's man I would go insane! but I bought another memory card ages ago and regularly update all the games saves onto the other just to be save....
