I'm trying to win this last race in the A-Spec Nascar series and it seems fairly ridiculous to win it. Using the Dale Earnhart Jr National Guard Impala.

I can easily draft my way into first without touching another car and even get ahead for a small amount of time, but the other cars end up mysteriously getting a weird boost somewhere along the line even if they aren't behind me drafting back and catching up.

When they do catch up, they seem to go after me with a vengeance and purposely nudge my rear end to push me off the track even when I make a point of not letting them near it.

The only way I seem to get ahead and stay there is to make a point of nudging them back often. You can't knock them off the track even half as easy as they seem to be able to do to you so the most I can do is pin them into the wall and they back off a bit.

I set the gearing to max out the speed right at the best point I can find where I get the most speed out of the car without hitting the end. Adjusted the camber to take the corners and keep speed as much as I could. Took all downforce off and haven't adjusted any other settings. I can keep the gas pedal down all the way for the entire track with ease staying at around 209mph the entire track at the minimum.

That isn't enough to even come close to winning this one. They keep catching up and then nudging my car into the wall even on the straightaways.

Anyone have any other tips for beating this race? Do I need a different car? I'd rather not have to play dirty the entire race to stay in first. Do you have to do that? I can draft them back and forth, but eventually one will try and push me off the track no matter what. It's really irritating. I'm lost on how to beat this one.

How many miles on the car? I suggest breaking her in if you haven't already then doing an oil change, might give you a slight power advantage. As for the new car? I'd say differences on all of them are minimal.

I bought the car new and did the oil change first off.

It's because the AI isn't stuck using ASM like we are.

Does that stuff turn back on for that car? I normally turn off all the ASM, traction control, and that other junk.

I still suggest breaking the car in.👍

Daytona's NASCAR race really is all about how well the AI behaves. 9 times out of 10, they will corner you up and send you flying. The 1 time that doesn't happen, you have to hold them off as long as you can (which is hard when there's 10 at least coming at you). Even the extra aids won't necessarily stop you from beating them but they aren't easy to defeat even without them.

How much do you have to do to "break" it in? I raced the Championship races for the Nascar and got all golds except the Daytona. I went back in to finish that one off and it's just a bear. Is there a set number of miles that starts gaining you HP back somewhere?

lol so essentially, just race it until you get lucky? ouch. lol

Wait..I thought you were talking about the Nascar Championship..:dunce: Nvm.

Running a NASCAR in clean air takers more power than running in the pack.
Do not lead. Stay in 2nd-5th place. Moving As the Draft (slip stream )requires.
NASCARs can push each other to do quicker laps than you can on your own.
Dont forget to bumper draft with other cars...
Unlike other motorsports racing in groups/packs, benefits the hole group.

In F1 the reverse happens and all the cars go slower.

You should stay in second untill the last lap then do the sling shot pass on the final corner, this will put you out in first right before the checked flag simple.

Ah Thanks. I guess that's what I needed. I ended up getting 2nd going back and forth and I can see how that would do it. I'll get it now that I know that trick.

Just have to race it like that old "Like the Wind" event in the old GT3.

(Edited--Corrected this for you.) This. 👍

Bump draft on the straights. You can bump draft in the corners, but it just drives the leading AI car up the track. You want to try and stay on the bottom, especially until the 2nd half of the last lap.

On the back straight, push the lead car into the corner to make it move up. They'll probably hit the brake, once they do it, back off to about 3-4 car lengths. Gain your slingshot run to pass on the inside off of turn 4. Use any and all of the track on the inside to make sure you're going the short way.

You don't have to be in second the entire race, but just in earshot of the lead pack. Trying to stay in 2nd place would really tucker you out... I know, I did it. Just do not cut when a driver behind you gets a run on you until the 8th lap. Get out of their way. Then get behind them when you're clear. On the 8th lap, you have to start making your move (earlier if you're further back).
