Some actual AMC Pacer facts:
- Pacers were made from 1975-1980
- You could get a V8 in 1978 and 1979. It was a 5.0L V8 with only 5 more horsepower than the 4.2L I6, but it had much more torque.
- The 1978 pacer got a new hood to make space for the V8 models.
- Pacers aren't very long, but they're fairly wide at 77 inches wide, about the width of a large Cadillac Fleetwood or something. they have a lot of interior room.
- They were originally supposed to be a FWD Rotary powered car with a 4.4L rotary (proper rotary measurment, as in the 13b is really a 2.6L engine) sourced from GM, but GM dropped the rotary project and AMC was forced to use their I6 engine and RWD, since the I6 wouldn't work in a FWD configuration.
