I just got a Linksys router and re-flashed it with the newest version of DD-WRT and also put in a much larger heat sink because you can up the "power" of it when using it as a wireless bridge to pick up much greater signal strength. This is the first time I have had any contact with a modded router such as this and I have been looking around to try to figure out a safe value to set the TX at and the default is 70, which is way stronger than what it was stock which was 25. With the larger heat sink on it now could anyone tell me what a decent place to set it would be for good performance now? I can't find anywhere if 70 is safe with the stock heat sink or if 70 is the safe zone for even a larger heat sink. Also, if you have a router that you can re-flash with DD-WRT, do it! It opens the thing up like you wouldn't believe. I got it just to use on my xbox 360, once I set it as a wireless bridge it was just plug in the ethernet cord and there I go, half the price of the M$ one and way more range:tup:
If I'm not using the correct terms or anything like that just let me know, I'm new to routers in general, much less re-flashing firmware on them.
