OK people, I need some help here. The final race I have to complete in the endurance section is de la Sarthe 2 (without chicanes). I'll admit it, I'm struggling!!
Here are the cars I own (in power/weight ratio order) that I thought would be up to the challenge;

Formula Gran Turismo, Nissan R92CP, Minolta Toyota, Gillet Vertigo, Jaguar XJR-9, Mazda 787B, Sauber Merc, BMW McLaren, Toyota GT-1, Audi R8, AMG CLK-GTR
(some have stage4 some don't)

Believe me, I've tried all of these cars for around 20 laps. With each one I find myself in 4th or 5th lapping between 2 and 5 seconds slower than the guy in 1st.
I've done la Sarthe in 2.54 and the Nurby in 5.58 with R3/R3 tyres, so I know I'm not that slow.

What amazes me is on A-spec I can do between 240 and 260 down the long straight, B-spec Bob sits there at 201. Why????

From the above what would be the best car to use and how should i set it up??? Is there a car I need to win that would be better (the Pescarolo looks good, but what race wins it?) maybe the Bentley.

Any suggestions please - i'm starting to pull my hair out.

Big thread on this exact problem here:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=65361

Living in the UK, you have the PAL version, so you're having a worse problem than we NTSC users.

Check the posts toward the end. It looks like raising the ride height way, way up is a big help. Try the Audi R8 again, with the ride height up near maximum.

BTW, B-Spec Bob is apparently afraid to go full-throttle or something, and is always slower than we are in A-Spec on the straights, but usually only by 20 or 30 MPH. Your 201 top speed is way slow. No answer for that, I'm afraid.

Thanks. I'll try the Audi R8 on suggested settings. Reading that thread i'm having the same trouble. Suicide dive into the barrier - way after the second coned off chicane though. Also, there is a nasty bump near the first chicane that sends me off to the right hand wall (A & B spec)

I had the same problem, too until found the RAC3R'S settings for toyota gt-one after then it's now so easy to win the de la sarthe and all other races :))

but don't forget

Tyres
f: R2 r: R1
Transmission final: 3.571

👍

i did it with the playstaion pescarolo judd race car (04)

tranny trick with final on 2.07
raise ride height o 80/80

front medium
rear hard

bb 4/2

overtake on and medium pace, b spec pits every 7 laps and has a comfortable lead

i easily win the race against the r8, playstation..., and bently with the formula car. even in bspec.
