Deactivate account option.

When looking at other large social networking sites such as Facebook, it allows their users to " Deactivate your account " . So I was wondering would it be better to implement a feature like this into GTPlanet? Instead of having the user requesting for their accounts to be banned?
 
It would be weird for users to be seemingly quoting posts out of nowhere, given that an account deactivation will also delete all the posts.

Not only that, whole threads would disappear. It just wouldn't be a good idea.
 
Maybe if it was possible to lock an account so you could no longer log in to it but every post/thread stayed visible.

Yes, which does beg the question... why? Why would you want to ban/lock your account anyway?
 
Isn't it just easier to not log in? I find that easy enough with Facebook now. Why over complicate things?

Well today i was considering it as currently the Drag Community which i am active in is a complete joke. And until its members "fix up and change their ways" i would not be considering retuning.
 
Accounts are no longer banned "just because". If you don't want to be a member here anymore, it's quite simple - log out and don't return.
 
You could try and set "Banned" (or something that looks like it) as your member title.

I guarantee you that'll do it. :P

My question exactly. Don't want to use the forum? Don't log in. I have no idea why we have people who want to remove their accounts or request temp bans. I'm the king of procrastination, but even I can keep away from the internet if called for.
