I Have Been Meaning To Post This Thread For A While, But Im T3h Lazy.
Anyways, Roughly A While Ago, My Mobo On My Desktop That I Use For Gaming Just Died.
Well I Guess It Didn't Die In A Metophorical Sense, But It Fails To Recognize My Sweet 75 Gig HDD, And Other HDDs, And Sometimes Even Reports My 75Gig As A 750 Terabyte Hdd.
Yeah.
I Think It Is Due To A Bad Bios Flash, But I Dont Know.
Currently When I Power It Up The Bios Will Say CMOS/GPNV Checksum Error Press F1 To Enter Setup.
And If I Just Press Escape, Let It Try To Run Intel PXE Rom And Then Reset It, It Would Boot Just Fine.
Untill A While Ago.
Now I Can Hope For It To Recognize My Floppy Drive ( For A Disk Based BootLoader As I Wont Boot Directly To HDD Or CD), HDD (My 3.2 Gig HDD Is All It Will Correctly Load), And My CDRW Drive.
Then It Will Load My Unbuntu Distro Live CD, And I Kind Of Have A Working PC.
This Really Started To Piss Me Of As Now I Can't Play Any Of My Steam Games ( I Own __Every__ Steam Game Legally), Any Of My THPS, NFS, FarCry, Doom3, Etc.
It Occured To Me To Check Intels Website For More Information On THe Matter, But All They Provide Is A Disclamer Saying That My Board Is No Longer Supported Blah Blah Blah, I Have Looked For Bios Flashers That FIt On A Floppy, But Intels Own Is Missing Files Needed To Boot THe FLoppy.
Ok So Now You Know All Of That, I Have A Old Intel D845PT Or 845xxDPT (The Board It Self Says One Thing, The Bios Says The Other) Mobo.
My System Is A Gateway 500x (Circa 2001-2002) With A P4 (Original 2Ghz, No H/T Or Anything, Just A Basic Pentium Four).
And I Want To Know If There Is Anyone WHo Knows If There Are Any Mobo's Out There That I Can Replace this Dead One With, Or Anyone Who Can Provide Me With A Bios Re-Flasher To Reflash The Bios, AnyKind ( Floppybased, Linux Based) Other Than One That Needs Windows Will Work.
Or Knows Of Another MoBo That Is Pretty Much The Same Exact As Mine ( But That Works)
Also I Have Tried To Mess With The Jumpers To Reset The Bios, Along With Removing The Battery And Replacing It With A Brand New One.
...
Wow I Just Reread That, And It Confuses Even Me.
