Well, no ... it's not Xtreme by any means. Here are a bunch of pictures from the game. A friend rented it last night and I played it for about three hours.

It's pretty - The graphics are even better than Dead or Alive 3, and the scenes are really spectacular. There are four (I think) locations to play volleyball with three different times of day each (I believe ...). There is also a "pool side" location, a couple of shops, a hotel room, and a casino. I would give it about a 9 out of 10 for visuals.

Animation - The animation is better than a lot of games I've seen. The Sims has the characters doing goofy things that seem unrealistic. This game has the girls doing things like brushing the hair out of their face, or straightening their bikini bottoms. When you're on a volleyball court and everyone is just standing there, they begin to cycle through the different animations. 9.5/10 - it's pretty cool (:

Game Play - Volleyball - Well the game play for the volleyball action is pretty lousy. I was hoping for something more like Virtua Tennis for Dreamcast. That game was pretty incredible. Unfortunately DOAXBV is pathetic when it comes to the actual content of the game. Unless I was doing something wrong, there seemed to be very little control over what your character was doing. 3 / 10
Story Mode - Story mode includes volleyball (of course), but also has a "beach life". You pick one of the girls and try to make friends with the rest of them so you can team up and play some volleyball. Unfortunately I sucked so bad that they wouldn't partner with me for more than a game or two. You buy items from the shops and can give them as gifts to the other girls. There are essentially several "turns" per "day" inwhich you can visit different areas on Zach Island to play volleyball, shop, or just hang by the pool. There is also a casino. If you want to make serious cash, go play some BlackJack (: I found myself spending more real time at the casino than playing volleyball. Now my friends and I want a good Casino game on XBox or PS2. Items at the store are things like new bathing suits, hair clips, jewels, jewelry, athletic apparel, sunscreen, and candies. It's interesting ... 7 / 10.

Audio - Music - Oh My Gosh!!! If you thought the sound track for GT3 was cool, you ain't heard nothing yet. They have a big selections of hit songs that play continuously through the game. There is even a radio station which you get to set the playlist for. It's pretty sweet. There were about 8 people in the room with me and I kept hearing them singing along. 9 / 10
Sound Effects - The sound effects are alright. The ocean sounds ok, the voices are good (though they're all in Japanese with subtitles) and the talk during the volleyball matches are pretty good. The girls call out eachothers' names when they set eachother up for a spike or whatever. And they talk a little trash when someone messes up. 8 / 10

Overall - It seems a little slow, and the core of the game, volleyball, really sucks ass. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for this, and that would just be for the digital boobs (: What's really odd, one of the girls watching me play said it seemed like a girly game, but the visuals were definitely for the guys. I think that's an interesting point. There's a lot of shopping for girl apparel and doing things to make friends with the girls.

I guess it's about a 5.5 / 10. I was really hoping for better volleyball action, and a quicker story mode.

Wow. I didn't know this was only on the xbox...that's weird. Good review Loud, keep em coming. :)

I think that the DOA series only makes games for the X-Box now.

Good review LM, it was informative. I might rent this one at a friends house (I don't have a X-Box).

I believe you are correct. PlayStation has Tekken (woo ...) and the DOA people don't want to compete in that market.

Dissappointment? that would require high hopes in the first place. I have no respect for DOA and would expect such things from them. the DOA series relies on graphics and boobies to sell games.

DOA2 was on ps2. i dont see a reason why they wouldnt want to compete with tekken. I just think microsoft bought off doa, or wait, doa wanted to go on x-box because they wanted to be on the best hardware. microsoft probably paid them to be exclusive though.

I play vf4. virtua fighter is currently the best fighting game series. soul caliber shmaliber.

tekken is crap, DOA is crap. Soul caliber i imagine is very very good, but I prefer vf right now. vf has a very simple yet complex gameplay system and is not weapons based. I would have to see how the SC system works before I buy it. I will probably pick up SC2.

Are you saying you have something against boobies? (:

I personally like the fighting style of DOA better than that of Tekken. Though I still like to go back to 2D fighters like Street Fighter on Super Nintendo.

i like boobies as much as everyone else (i am an a44 man however). but i dont want boobies interfering with my gaming. im either masturbating or im playing a game. i dont want them mixed. that would be very weird and gross. anyway, if you want to know if i like boobies or gameplay better, i would say gameplay.

i dont know how i would rank doa against tekken. i just know VF4 is better than both!!!!! Go rent it. you will love it.

Oh, Virtua Figher ... don't know how I got on Tekken there ...

Yes Virtua Fighter was pretty good the last time I played it. I'd like to give it a go sometime.

definately do. also check out virtuafighter.com they have tons of awesome stuff including a forum, links to places to download clips of tournament matches with the worlds best, and more.

Heirarchy of fighting games
1.Virtual Fighter 4
2. Tekken 4
3. DOA 3
As for Soul Caliber 2 i can't list it as it has not come out yet. While you could argue the game will be great (chances are it will) yet tekken 4 was supposed to be as good as tekken 3 and it fell short. so we will have to see.

i agree with askia about vf4, but you just cant rate games like that. it will always be your opinion. i think you started the thread about american vs japanese vs. european that was the same. you should learn the difference between a fact statement, and an opinion. and that some things will always be an opinion.

k, sorry.

why (if its not a joke) are you in tokyo? were you born in japan? do you play those awesome vf.net arcade machines?

Im interested in studying abroad there. and i have a friend who lives there.

i WAS in tokyo like 5 days ago. i logged on to GT planet there and put in my location. i went because i have some distant family there. i really live on the east coast of the united states. i was able to go the arcades and they rock! the VF machines machines are great yet i am addicted to DDR!

I can't see why this game is Rated - Mature for..... it looks like a teen game, unless they do, errrrrrrmmmmmmmm, I not gonna say it.

Not that I am aware of. It's just girls in bikini's. Kids see worse than that on TV - where they show bare butt.

I agree, But on the commercial it says its rated Mature. Thats what Questions me. What at the end of the game, do they go nude and go lesbo?

There might be cheat codes or something that make them naked, but I doubt Microsoft would allow that. A simple way of doing would be to use a 'propperly textured' bikini (:

A friend gave me a copy of the game ... and it is nude. I have no idea where it came from though, so please don't ask. I'm guessing parts of the costumes have been deleted, as apparently the costumes are applied to a true naked body. The only error with the version I've got is that the string ties from the bikinis are still there ... which is kind-of amusing. Oh, and Ayane is a "natural purple" .....

It probably isn't appropriate to post screenshots here either (if moderators tell me otherwise I'll reconsider), so please don't ask for that either.
