This morning on stage 1 a rally car collided with 2 spectators, one a 50 year old woman and the other an 8 year old boy. The woman was killed but the 8 year survived with serious, but not life threatening injuries. From what I have heard (From people who were there, friends and step dad) the spectators were attempting to walk to another part of the stage when a rally car zoomed around the corner. It tried to aviod them and in doing so rolled over, tumbling over the spectators.
The driver and co-driver were un-injured.

It is sad to have such a thing happen, unfortunatly from what I can piece together the blame rests with the spectators. (Not that the driver won't be completely traumatised by this and most likely never rally again)
All the same R.I.P to the woman and I hope for a speedy recovery on the 8 year old.

The Snowman Rally, the opening round of the Scottish championship, has been cancelled after a spectator, a 50-year-old female, was killed on the opening stage this morning, according to reports.
It is understood a competing car rolled into spectators at a junction on the Glen Urquhart stage close to the village of Balnain, just west of Loch Ness, although no official confirmation has been forthcoming from event organisers, the Highland Car Club or the Northern Constabulary.
