Somewhere.
I've just had an offer, a few hours ago, for yet another car. Dirt cheap, 1994 Acura Integra GS-R... It's dirt cheap because, well, it doesn't work. But it's nothing major, so it wouldn't cost me 10 000$ to make it run again. Heck, it won't even cost me a thousand.

But i'm debating whether i should do it or not. Mainly because i don't have the space for a 3rd car, and also because i know my girlfriend would be pissed off. I don't want to get rid of my CRX, with all the work i've put into it, but this seems like a good deal.

So, yeah, what would you do?

Newer Integra > CRX. imo.

Don't know what you've done to that CRX, though. Knowing you, it probably has a turbo/intercooled H22 or something nuts like that.

Turbo intercooled H22 + CRX = one bad ass Circle track/drag racer....bout it.....Anything else...good.....What's wrong with the integra actually? I'd like to know.

Rings and head gasket. Easily fixed to someone in the know, but the 40 year old guy with the car knows **** all about cars. His loss would be my gain...

Oh, and the CRX has a B18B/B16A hybrid (aka LS-VTEC) with a T3 turbo and a few goodies... It pumps out a bit over 300 @ the wheels, good for mid/low 12s on the strip. But it's always broken.

Ehh, i'll leave myself the weekend to think about it, i guess.

Hey Fred, just because it's a good deal money wise doesn't necessarily mean it's a good deal for you life wise.

You already explained some pretty good reasons as to why you shouldn't buy the car so stick with those and run with them. It sounds like you only want to get this car because it's "on sale." Remember, only women buy stuff they don't need cus it's "on sale." ;)

I think your good judgement is being clouded by it being a "good deal" and that it would also be a new toy for you to play with.

You already know what the wise decision is here so go ahead and make the smart move. 👍

My mom wrote a check for $19,060 for a new car today. We'll be picking it up tomorrow. Yay. :)

PR, I'd choose the Integra.

Sounds like the CRX is pretty nice. I'd buy the Integra and park it up the block, don't even tell your girlfriend about it :)

Hondas blow! 👎

She got a PT Cruiser! It's nice though. It's the Limited Edition fully loaded blah blah blah one. It's a nice goldish champagne color too. A nice comfortable car. I'm happy.

No way,
You have so much time and money invested into your CRX. How could you part with it?

I would be in tears if i had to part with a car that I put so much work and heart into. I get very attached to automobiles. Almost like children.

Would you part wit your child if it was always sick? Yeah it breaks down a lot... but its your baby. Take care of it and treat it well and you will grow with it and get to love it more and more.

Integra's are so played out now anyway. Everyone and their uncle has one. Atleast in my neighbourhood

And if it is such a steal, then buy the 'Teg , then flip it over for about $3000 more than what you paid for it :D

hell punk rock. I wouldnt in hell part with a car that I have gotten so much blood sweat and tears into. maybe if you talked about it with your girl and bought it as a future project, or smething like that, but I dont think it would be a good idea if it really pokes in your lifeform. if you CAN get it, in ALL the sense of the word, with all it encloses, go for it, but if there is one thing it may interfere with, I'd say no...

Cano

what rumple says isnt a bad idea either.. :O

Exactly what I was thinking. Add some rice to it (the integra) and sell it to some pimple-faced punk (no pun intended) for more money...

That's always an idea!

Or, i could get it for her... hadn't thought of that. She got refused for a 1999 Civic Si a few weeks ago, so she's been looking lately. It's easily fixed, and it's easily maintained. Damn, i love thinking like that!

I think we reached a level of thinking that nobody on GTP has ever done! We actually had a good idea!! 👍...

PunkRock, you sound like you know a good amount about Hondas, do you happen to know if a D16A6 out of a 91 Civic Si would fit into an 86 CRX?

1994 is the newest body style, but if it isn't a GS-R sedan, it isn't worth it. And it isn't a GS-R sedan. So it isn't worth it. Especially when you have a 300whp CRX...

I'm confused. Why is it only worth it if it's the GSR sedan? What's wrong with the coupe?

Coupe Integras bore the hell out of me - I find the 90-93 and 94-01 sedans (and 87-89 five-door) to be the much better choice. Just personal preference.

It's not a coupe, it's a hatchback. :p

It should bolt in pretty easily, as far as i know people have been putting B16As into first gen CRXs, and the B16 is much wider.

You could always buy the car, fix the gasket and rings, and sell it.

EDIT: That's what I get for not reading the whole thread, Rumple already suggested this. Doh.
