Here's something for all the Aussies out there & anyone else interested in one of the best cars produced here that, unfortunately, didn't get past prototype stage :-(

HRT 427 replica

Buy a Holden Monaro in any colour you like. Paint the body 'Adrenaline Red' from the SRT Viper GTS '13. Do an oil change and fit PDI P525 wheels in silver.

Add the following:
FC suspension
Racing brakes
FC transmission
FC Mechanical LSD
Intake tuning
Supercharger
Stage 2 Engine Tuning
Sports Exhaust
Weight Reduction Stage 1
Window Weight Reduction

How to Set-up:
Default Suspension Settings
RH: 110/110
SR: 5.37/4.82
DC: 3/3
DE: 3/3
ARB: 3/3
No Camber
Toe: 0.00/0.20
Brake Balance: 5/5
Set Maximum Speed to 360km/h
1st: 2.980
2nd:2.070
3rd:1.430

6th:0.560 Final Gear: 3.910
Default LSD settings: 10/40/20
Ballast Weight: 110
Ballast Position: 50

This should give you:
545pp
560BHP @ 5800
83kgfm @ 4300

The story behind the car, as I remember it, was, take a Holden Monaro, insert a dry-sump LS7, put it on a diet, stir & take on the World! People couldn't put down a deposit (100k) fast enough. Problem was, after crunching the numbers, the bean counters at Head Office came back with a price of $215,000. Ouch!

Nice idea anyway. Hope you like it & feel free to do any fine tuning you like. Feedback is appreciated.

Being a proud Aussie, I just wanted to have a go at an Aussie car. This was the best candidate I could find considering we've only got this and the Commodore.
I'm definately not a suspension tuner by any stretch of the imagination!
Ever since GT1, and all that have followed, I've just driven all cars with the default settings, trying to drive around any inherent problems that may have been present. If I wanted to fiddle with a car, it was the gearbox & diff that got my attention. I'd settle on the gearbox ratios & alter the diff ratio for the track I was driving. I had a whole book of numbers for reference & it worked ok for me.
I only discovered this app about 4 or 5 weeks before the release of GT6 & have been blown away by the magic performed by the tuners here. I'm not one for maxing out a car unless it in someway replicates a real example. Replicas are what I like & I've got a few hypothetical models as WIP.
Hope this explains what I'm doing here.
Congrats on your efforts with the '69 Camaro SS in the FITT challenge.
Classic American muscle cars is a class I really like. I wish I was around for the TransAm category & love following our domestic homegrown product vs the legends from the USA in the Touring Car Masters category here.

Interested to hear what suspension theories people have for this. As I've said, I'm not a suspension wiz so haven't moved from the default settings. Pathetic probably but I hate understeer & default seems ok to me. If you've made it better by throwing a few ideas at it let me know

Use the GT Suspension Wizard to see what good suspension setups are supposed to look like. Do not publish anything the GT Wizard gives you though, I will not add any auto-suspension tunes to the directory unless they are from Voodoovaj or Oppositelock. Just saying, it will help you learn how to build good suspension setups.

I've looked at the wizard but I'm on an iPhone & technically dumb. I can't get it to work
I've sent a message to Voodoovaj asking for his help. Hopefully he can steer me in the right direction.

It's just really slow on iOS, and tricky to use. I can get it to work, but yeah the first time I got on with my ipad I thought it wouldn't work either. It just takes a long time. Triple tap in the first box (weight I believe) and it should drop the cursor in.

Two I drove recently, the Zonda C12 and Spoon S2000 are pretty much perfect out of the box and I know the Monaro and Commodore were very good in GT5 as is. If it handles well enough with stock settings there's nothing wrong with leaving it alone. 👍👍

Thanks for the kind words of support.
I was driving with this on SS tyres when I said it wasn't too bad out of the box but having tried SH tyres, it definitely needs work. She's pretty taily! I love a front end I can trust & hate understeer with a passion! This turns in really well but as soon as you try to drive out the corner, it wants to morph into a forklift
I've sent the specs to Voodoovaj & he's having a look at it for me:tup:

When comparing the Commodore & Monaro, I always felt the Monaro had the better front & the Commodore the better rear end. Weird really as they come from the same platform with identical wheelbase etc

I have a really great tune for the spoon s2000 at 450pp and it doesn't quite use everything stock but it does kick some...
