I remember a long time ago, when I was younger, I played a demolition derby racing game at a friends house and cannot remember hardly anything about it. It was either a PS1 or PS2 game, I think it was the PS1 though. I remember driving in a big circular dirt ring and your cars could explode and stuff. That's about all I rememeber. I know it's not much to go buy but from what I've seen from Google searches, nothing matches this memory. I played it for hours on end but I cannot for the love of god remember it's name so I can pick it up again.

This is about as close to it as I've seen. But I'm still not convinced that's it.

Are you sure that's right? I always remember the GFX being a bit better lol. Maybe it's an illusion from being younger.

I'm not sure. I'd have to ask him but I haven't seen the guy in almost 10 years.

EDIT:

I think when it started there was a countdown and then every car drove right into the middle of this pit and a bunch would explode.

Destruction Derby 2?

EDIT: Tree'd! Not entirely sure if it is the game you are talking about though.

Yep, that is Destruction Derby 2, I still have the PSX game.

That would be the destruction bowls, awesome carnage !!

The picture I posted is just something kind of similar to what I remember. It's not actually that game. I think it might be Destruction Derby 2.

Alright cool. I'll have to pic this up again when I get a chance. Time to re-live part of my childhood again. Thanks guys.

EDIT:

Looked up videos for both games. They look strikingly similar. I'm not confused again as to which one it is.

I also think I have him on FaceBook. I'll have to message him there.

I think the game I'm talking about used real cars over demo cars but I could be wrong. Both those bowls in each game look like the one I'm talking about.

There was also a demolition derby in GTA: Vice City, but I think it's more likely it was one of the DD games as above. I think there was a PS2 version of the DD games, I could be wrong though. DD2 was my favourite, the first two were made by Reflections, the creators of Driver and Stuntman.

No it definitely wasn't GTA lol.

It's gotta be one of them. I did ask the guy and he has no idea what one it was XD

Could it be Destruction Derby Raw? i still have it for some reason lol here are some pics.

The back is hard to see but the UI looks just like the screenshot in the first post.

The game in the OP is Destruction Derby Raw (the third game in the series, which was completely lost in the hype train for the PS2 launch). There was also Demolition Racer, which came out about a year earlier on PSX and PC (and a year later on DC) and looked like this:

Hmm. Well it's definitely one of them. I remember the cars were a bit touchy with the controls as well, but had massive grip I think. I just wish he could remember the name, he got rid of everything and has no idea what it was.

On PS2 there was a Derby game called 'Driven To Destruction' and it was made by Atari. But it was nothing like what you've described.

Probably Demolition Racer then. In Destruction Derby Raw the cars had a lot of weight to them, so they slid around alot.

It's been at least 10 years since I've played it so my meory could be wrong also though. I'll sleep on this and get back to you all.

The best demolition derby game I ever played was on the PS2. It was called Destruction Derby Arenas.

20 players online!!! :dopey:

Another great derby game is Test Drive: Eve of Destruction.

Destruction derby arenas was an epic game such a shame it was the last one they ever made.

I agree. 20 players online was so much fun. It actually ran very well too even with 20 players in the room. I cant believe there is nothing like this on the 360 or PS3. Flatout is the only other game series with decent demo derby but nowhere near as good as the other games listed in this thread.

Yeah, you guys completely missed the flat out series. I played that everyday. First was better than the second.
