hey guys just wondering whats your fav depressing love songs, im thinking more on the lines of r&b hip hop but rock is cool also. mines how long must i cry by kci and jojo and also nobody knows by tony rich project, plz feel free to list as much as you like.

What's that Pearl Jam song with the lines...

I know some day you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky
But why can't it be mine...

That used to choke me up every time.

Umm.. not really a love song, but here's a sample from Posies - Suddenly Mary:

"I used to stand on my two feet, but now I sit when my new wife talks"

Kindof depressing.

That would be "Black". Depressing, indeed.

"Mexico" by Incubus is a bit sad, but I'd go with "Fake Plastic Trees" by Radiohead.

"Holdin' My Own" By Lee Roy Parnell
"Missin' You" by John Waite
"How 'bout me?" by Fred Nobloc

Air supply songs
Any Country
hmmm. . . trying to think.
David Gray - Please forgive me
oh man I wish this thread was up like a month ago, I would have had a long list of songs considering what I was going through...

not sure if it's a love song because I don't understand French but
Thievery Corporation - Le Monde - song is very nice & mellow - one of their best

"Crying (Over You)" by Roy Oberson. If you don't shed a tear at that one part where Roy gets real emotional, you have no soul.

yeah Milefile, black is very depresing. favorite pearl jam song. awesome tune. (Y)
another one is "baby since I've been loving you" by led Zeppelin, Duvet, by BoA, Brane new love song, by the pillows, Leaving on a jet plane, by Chanthal Kreviazuk, and a ****load from Cowboy Bebop's soundtrack, specially call me call me and words that we couldnt say.

Cano

Jaheim - Diamond in Da Ruff

I don't know how
to get over her smile
I wonder what she's doin now
I think about her every once in awhile

"Somebody" by Depeche Mode is one of the best love songs ever.
A bit depressing, but very beautiful, and some emotional lyrics. :(

I remembered two more for ya. "I'm Gonna Crawl" by Led Zepplen. "Sorrow" by Pink Floyd. Sorrow is not much of a luv song, but it's sad and depressing.

Anything Trent Reznor's ever written where he isn't screaming is a depressing love song. Here's "The Great Below" from the end of the first CD of The Fragile:
staring at the sea
will she come?
is there hope for me
after all is said and done

anything at any price
all of this for you
all the spoils of a wasted life
all of this for you

all the world has closed her eyes
tired faith all worn and thin
for all we could have done
and all that could have been

ocean pulls me close
and whispers in my ear
the destiny i've chose
all becoming clear

the currents have their say
the time is drawing near
washes me away
makes me disappear

and i descend from grace
in arms of undertow
i will take my place
in the great below

i can still feel you
even so far away
i can still feel you
even so far away
i can still feel you
even so far away
i can still feel you
even so far away
even so far away
even so far away
even so far away
so far away

A great album by a great artist.

Beautiful lyrics man.

Another one! By Sir Elton John this time. "Sorry seems to be the hardest word."
Listen to any Reba McIntire CD in its entirety, and you'll be looking to step in front of a bus!
Reba is best taken in small doses.

I thought of more. How about "I Wanna Be Adored" by The Stone Roses. Great song, but it has very few words. But the music is slow and heavy and you get a strong sense of depression.

"Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Joy Division is also a good one, but it has a fast beat for a depressing love song.

"Cry" by Godley And Creme" was kind of popular in the 80's.

"Wishing" by A Flock Of Seagulls is not bad, but it isn't very sad or depressing. Great lyrics though. "Wishing I had a photograph of you. Something to remind me, or I wouldn't spend my life just wishing."

"Overkill" by Men At Work is not a love song, but it's very soulfull and kind of depressing. Just a thought.

"Alone Again Or" by The Damned is a great depressing love song. It has great lrics, too.

Hey, I say it's alright
You know I wont forget
All the times
I waited patiently for you

Now you do
Just what you choose to do
And I will be alone tonight
It's true

Radiohead's Morning Bell - best nasty divorce song I've heard. I prefer the funereal Amnesiac version, gives a real feel of resignation, as opposed to the desperation of the Kid A version
------------------------------
The morning bell
The morning bell
Light another candle and
Release me
Release me

You can keep the furniture
A bump on the head
Howling down the chimney
Release me
Release me
Please
Release me
Release me

Where'd you park the car
Where'd you park the car
Clothes are on the lawn with the furniture
Now I might as well
I might as well

Sleepy jack the fire drill
Round and round and round

Cut the kids in half
Cut the kids in half
Cut the kids in half
------------------------------
Quick flick through the CDs reveals:
Low & Dirty Three's 'Down by the river'. There's a girl. There's a guy. There's a gun. There's a river.

There's a thousand others, particularly from my dark period in the early '90s. I prefer not to go through those...
