Yep, I've managed to squeeze out some time for this coming Sunday, Aug 15th.

So this coming Sunday, I'll add in the link to the Chat room, that'll open at Noon (Eastern Standard Time). At 1pm I'll announce the track/race and Car combo. We'll have the standard One hour till deadline, to e-mail in your time.

I'll also include the e-mail address in this thread.

I'll take a shot at this if I'm around. Never seen one of these "quick" races before, seems like a great idea. 👍
 
Iceman, The idea for this developed from my lack of time to practice on a race. In the weekly races and Spot races at GTBN, I would only get a few hours to run the race over the course of a week. I often wondered how many hours others had spent racing.

I knew that given time, I could trim my times down a bit more, as well as tweak out the suspension/gearing to give me a better time. However, I could rarely ever find that time to do it. The thought was then to limit an entrants time for the race. But given a day or three days, it was still questionable how much free time someone might have to put forth on their efforts.

So the idea developed with Boombexus and I to come up with an instant race. We'd all gather ahead of time in a given chatroom location, at an exact time, the race and car would be announced. We'd all have exactly one hour to run the race, and e-mail a time in. Thus, giving a very good judgement of how you rank against other racers.

The interesting note, is that I still ranked about where I do in most races. I was faster than a few, but slower than most. The fast guys were still fast, the back markes were still sniffing exhaust fumes. But the times were closer, and the "atmosphere" of a real race was there.

And it turns out, They are alot of fun.

Thanks for the invitation, AO. I have tried a couple of these instant races before, and I agree they're premium fun. 👍

I'm a little uncertain of the timing with summertime etc. As fas as I can figure there's a 6 hour different on EST and CET at the moment. So 1 PM EST should be 7 PM CET and that's the hour I tuck up my kids. If I'm wrong and it's one hour later I would love to join. :)
 
It's looking like we'll have a fairly slim group of people on the track today.

Just as a percursor, I'm lettign you all know, that I'll be opening the chat room at 12:30. I'm off shortly to spend my morning in the office.

Ever hear the line "Poor planning on your part, does not constitute and emergency on my part." ? Well, I have, but it seems like noone else has. I'm (yet again) pinch hitting on a project that someone else couldn't finish on time. And wanna guess where those people are, while I'm in the office?

And yes, Hell has frozen Solid. In over 2 1/2 years, I've been always slower than Lotus350. Today was a miracle happen.

Then again, a broken watch is right twice a day.

Sorry - I fell asleep watching the alleged football (after watching the alleged motor racing), and only woke up 10 minutes ago... :D

Was it good? Can we do it again next week? :D
 
Famine, I fell asleep watching the motor racing ... It's so damn exciting watching a Ferrari one-two.

As for the online racing, yeah it was fun, apart from the Deep Forest Reverse result. :yuck:
 
I would have liked to make the race today but the Honey do list came first. Sorry DA. :(
We need to get these races going again. They can be a lot of fun.
