In order to get my Ferrari F10 when I wasn't online I literally did the indy track in the American championship 100 times. Is there anyone else who's done something like this because they just wanted a car that bad, or was it just me?

yeah i did it about 200 hundred times to get the F1 2010 and the 787B lol

I couldn't believe it when I finally got the thing and discovered that there were no races you could enter with it (being offline). But its nice to know that there are others out there.

haha dont think we would be the onlu ones =P

Yes very true. I'm currently taking the easy way to get what I want, after the b-spec race that my driver is in now, is over, he will be level 28. Which means that tomorrow when I leave to pick up bf3 I can put him in the indy 500 and when I get back I should have a gorgeous gt40 waiting for me. (rumour has it that you win this car this way) and I know that the race will be won due to that trusty X2010 ;) its nice to milk the system when you can.

Yeah the red bull car comes in handy sometimes =)

I ran the Indy race in the Dream Car Championship so many times that I cringe whenever I race on that track now lol. In a couple of weeks I'll feel the same about Sarthe. But yeah I've done what the op is describing, as I am sure 97% of serious GT5 players have done as well.
