Hello,

I bought the Logitech Driving Force GT a few years ago. I have enjoyed using it but as I understand, it was advertised as being equipped with a car horn to be used while driving. It doesn't work... :indiff: I tried to switch it out twice through Logitech by the notion that I was just twice unlucky, but still no luck. Is there something I don't know about the wheel or that I have to do before it can be used?

Thanks in advance,
Springbok

In order for a horn to work, the game you're playing must have one coded.

I can only think of one car game I've ever played that has a horn, and that was Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit for the PS1.

I assume it will be a feature of full GT5 as KY/PD did design the wheel (with the horn button) but that is not confirmed.

Test Drive unlimited has a horn from memory.

Why do you need TWO threads saying exactly the same thing? Anyway like has been pointed out before, GT5p does not have a horn function so it's not surprising that it doesn't work.

This was from the official press release:
The Logitech Driving Force GT turns 900 degrees lock-to-lock allowing drivers to navigate hairpin turns with greater accuracy. And with anti-backlash gearing, there is no slack in the steering response, making any race a smooth, realistic experience. In the centre of the 27.9 cm (11-inch) wheel, the Driving Force GT features an illuminated horn button with the official Gran Turismo logo. Using the authentic sounds of the car being driven, racers can quickly alert other cars when they are approaching fast. Or when playing online, people can simply use the horn to taunt other players as they speed by.

The Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is engineered for use with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on PS3, which will be available on Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) and as a download on the PLAYSTATION®Network in North America on April 17. The Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is also compatible with Gran Turismo™3 and Gran Turismo™4 on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.

thanks, I guess I'll have to wait for GT5. ASH32, there is another thread by another member about whether he should use his left foot for braking, but I did not make two threads... I could have but I don't see it.

I am not stupid, there were two threads but a mod will have deleted the other. You know you made two so don't pretend otherwise.

I'm not calling you stupid. It's just that your theory begs the same question: why would I make two? If I did, it was by mistake, in which case I would NOT have known.

I think you're just angry that SA beat the living $&!t out of England in the WRC.

As it happens you DID make two - with different titles.

But you don't see me, a moderator, getting all bent out of shape about it.

There was another thread about the horn. I responded by asking why he wanted a horn. We are racing not in commuter traffic.

Don't return the wheel, It works just fine.:)

I apologize, then, for my double-posting. I was not aware it would cause such a fuss. I thought the first one didn't go through but as it appears it did. I will be more careful next time.

Now - from what I can gather, I suppose I will have to wait for gt5? Thanks for the responses.

I think a few PC sims have horns. LFS I know does, as often, in some of the better online races, people use their horn when overtaking. Because naturally its hard to check your blindspot in a game when cornering and LFS has damage, so you want to avoid contact, some people will give a little toot when they pull up next to you. Not to say you have to let them through, but just so you know they're there to not cause an accident ;)

I'm sure some other games have it too, but I can't remember off the top of my head and I'm not on my gaming PC so I can't check.

EDIT: On PC you have a lot of buttons at your disposal so making one a horn is no big deal, I guess on the PS3 you are limited by how many buttons you have, you dont want to waste one on a horn.

Ah - I've never played PC racing games (save for a quick go here and there), so I was limiting myself to PS games.

And Amiga.
