I give up, I could not find any info that I need in the search or on the web. I just took a gamble on a used G27. No adapter included and I do understand that the ratings on the G wheels are higher. What I heard is that you can use the G adapters on DF wheels but not the other way around. Is it because the lack of sufficient power or it can potentially be a disaster?

I have a few DF wheels and adapters around so I would like to know if I can at least use them just to see if it is functional without trying to drive around in Gran Turismo or whatever? I just want to do a test and of course order the proper adapter.

Thanks for any help!

Well the G27 adapter is 24v@1.75amps, the DFGT is 24v@0.75amps, it just wouldnt have the power.
You can still test that the wheel works though without any adapter by just plugging it in USB, that will power the wheel and pedals and shifter, but not the force feedback.

Just tested this with GT5 and TD Ferrari. Everything seems to work besides the steering. The buttons and lights on the wheel is functional too. So I took out the DFGT (fully functional) and tried the games again without a power adapter and the steering also does not work. I will keep my fingers crossed that the G27 does work! Thank you.

There is a table with all the AC adaptor specs for each wheel on Logitech's support page. There you can see which adaptors would fit each wheel.

Getting a spare adaptor is pretty easy as well. At least in the UK they sell for £14 on ebay.

I guess the general idea is to match the voltage but not go under the amperage. Going a little over in amp ratings is fine. I have been using an Epson 24v .8amp on a DF (blue wheel) and a MC 360 wheel (for testing so I don't some how ruin my DFP and DFGT) and those wheels both have the same required specs like in the DFP and DFGT. No issues but I know the difference is just a tad bit higher from .75a.

I guess the newer wheels are different because I could have sworn that the original DF wheel still steers without an adapter. But maybe I used it on the PC or PS2 GT4. I just ordered the factory oem adapter on eBay last night so gonna have to wait about a week to see if the wheel is 100%. The suspense is killing me! Thanks for your input!

Thanks. I wouldn't mind testing out other devices like clock radios or portable music players with different power ratings but with the G27 I would be devastated if I ruined it.

as an electrical engineer, i'd like to help you solve some of your concerns you're having:

1- Voltage MUST be 24V, but I believe you know that already.

2- Amperage can be a little bit over. Theoretically it can be as high as you want, since the current is drawn "on demand", i.e., if you apply a certain voltage the current that'll flow is constant (as this is a DC power supply), (see Ohm's Law if you feel like it). The AMPS specs you see on a power supply are MAX amp, not what it's always outputting.

3- MOST IMPORTANT, that I haven't seen you mention: Make sure the pinout is correct. Check your original G27 power brick for the info in the pic below:

If for whatever reason you plug in a Power Supply that's inverted to the original one (and I've seen equipment with Central Negative Jack), you'll most definitely fry your wheel.

If you need any other assistance, let me know :)

I really appreciate your help. I understand much more! I came across a Cannon PSU today. It was 24v 2.xx amps. The inner hole is a bit larger though. Should have picked it up anyways as a spare for my other Logitech wheels. Too bad I didn't receive the OEM PSU yet. Anyways, thanks, I have learned a lot!

Useless update:
The wheel works! Only did 3 laps on The Ring in GT5. Maybe further testing is needed but so far so good. Can't wait to update GT6 because I'm still on 1.02 and working on millions.

So the thing about this PSU is even though it says Logitech on the package it still feels like a knockoff? The cables are stiff and too shiny and does not say Logitech anywhere. I don't know if that is how the G27 is but the DF wheels has a flexible and longer cable with Logitech on the unit. It also matches the other cables in feel and shade. I carelessly paid $2.00 extra thinking that these are the ones the actually came with the wheel. Should have paid more attention because another seller had these exact ones at $15 with a "make offer" option but did not specify that it was OEM. I could be wrong though but no big deal at all. Just to inform you guys.
