DFGT Disturbing clapping sound of brake pedal

Last few day i have been experiencing quite annoying problem, cause my brake pedal has somewhat "broke" (maybe i have been stepping on it too harshly, it was during crazy chase with friend :scared: ) and since then it is doing very loud clapping sound when i step on it (only when i lay a foot quickly on it, not when im pushing it all the way down), and it seems a bit disturbing to me. It functions properly, but it just distracts me every time i step on it, so i was wondering if i could do something to repair it / seems like some part has either broke or unstucked from its original position, as i can tell from looking under the brake /. So i want to ask you if someone of you have encountered similiar problem or attempted to modify / repair the pedals of the DFGT wheel? Some good advices could come handy to me as I am not too experinced in this kind of things :drool:

You just have to take apart the pedalbox...this is pretty easy.
At the backside of the box are several srews,undo them but make sure you keep the box upside down when finally taking the cover off...otherwise the pedals fall out.
The technique inside is very simple,the two pedals have sort of springs inside them and these can come loose...i had the same thing and just putting it back together is very easy!!...

Make sure everything is in the right place when you srew it back together(wires wnd stuff should not be in between the plastic parts ).
Also don't tighten the srews too much...its all simple plastic,and you can ruin the screw holes easily...

So, I have opened the pedal box and there is silver spring on left side of both pedals and one extra black spring for the brake pedal. The two silver spring are set in same position and the black is several tens of degrees shifted down, and i actually don't know what is wrong here.. Should I make the end of the black one to be in the same position as the silver ones? Because it seems that the sound is generated by the black spring...

Try to do it with the black spring and see what difference it makes...

Curious what happened in this case...

I just picked up a new DFGT and the brake pedal is slightly 'loose'/'slack', whereas my DFP brake pedal does not have this issue, nor do either of the acceleration pedals...
Not keen on taking apart the new pedals (though I have done so on my DFP pedals in the past).

Is this 'loose'/'slack' when you start to push the brake pedal normal for the DFGT?

I've done it on both sets of my DFGT pedals, works a treat and makes teh pedals feel much better!
 
Was having the exact problem the OP mentioned, and did the fix which Robbks posted in the link above (thanks BTW!) I opened up both the gold and black springs on my brake pedal. The hardest part was closing back the cover with the extra pre-load of the springs, but I got the whole process done in about 15-20mins.

This immediately solved the "clacking" noise of my brake pedal, and improved the feel of it 100% as well.

My brake pedal now has the resistance I expect of equipment for a driving simulator :)

After researching online, it appears this is a VERY common problem with the DFGT pedals, so I just thought I'd bump this for anyone having similar problems and looking for a fix.
 
Thanks for the info on this, I have just made this change and is has also stopped the clacking noise, which my family will be very happy about when they are trying to get to sleep in the next room. I found the most difficult thing was to bend the springs, they are very strong. I actually traced them on a peice of paper before I bent them so I could easily compare how much they had bent. The cover plate when back on easy enough.
