I just got the DFGT and I love it, but I have a question about the FFB.

I have the FFB on 6, even though I prefer the FFB on 10. The reason is that I like long races, but I don’t want the gears to wear, because I don’t know how durable the DFGT is.

So do I have a reason to worry or can I turn the FFB to 10?

If anyone got the DFGT, what FFB strength do you use?

I used to play with FFB on 5, but when I switched to 10, the experience just elevated for me. You can feel the car a lot better, correct slides much more easily, and the wheel just feels a lot more firm. (make sure the steering setting is on simulation, I think the default is the least realistic).

As for wearing the motor, I've always worried about this too, but I've been driving my DFGT for about 7-8 months (about 3 on FFB10) and no issues. This may not be enough time to test any wearing though, so hopefully someone who has had their DFGT longer can chime in.

Edit-even though you've had your account since Feb 2011, this was only your second post, so in a way, welcome (back) to GTP! :P :gtpflag:

Well. I have the dfgt and I use FFB 6 right now. I am a drifter as well though and I have noticed some wear I think. It makes a different noise than it used to, I can explain it but it is different, but I also think I got a defective dfgt  The drifting has seemed to put extra wear on it though since I have to be a lot quicker than a curcuit racer for correct my angles.

I've had my dfgt for 4 years on ffb 10 and have yet to have an issue. It still functions just as good as new. However, I am a casual racer and don't race everyday.

Does this work for a DFGT?

Thanks for the replies. :)

I am going to turn the FFB to 10, because the feel is better and now I won’t worry too much about wearing the wheel. :sly:

Yes, that's what I have/am using

No, it dosn't have any function for the DFGT. I've tested it and didn't make any difference:)

You sir, are wrong. when I first got my DFGT, I drove on the default feedback setting (like amateur or whatever it is), and I was a bit disappointed with the wheel. When I switched to "simulation", it was like an entire new game and experience for me! It was a huge difference, ESPECIALLY with FFB on 10. If you don't have FFB on 10, then the difference may be much smaller

Notice how the DFGT gets shadowed when you select the option for "professional" and "amateur"? Notice how the DFGT isn't shadowed when you select Force Feedback?

Why did it feel so different then?? Placebo possibly? I just remember going on my second account (which had all the FFB settings default/amateur) and I noticed a huge difference when I hit the track. Why does it feel so different if the DFGT is shaded in when you select those options?..

Edit-not home at the moment, but when I arrive I'll do some testing myself and put this to rest.

Looking at the Steering Options:

Steering type: Amateur / Professional / Simulation
GT-Force, Driving Force, and Driving Force EX only

Power-Assisted Steering: On / Off
All other wheels

Feedback: 1 to 10
All other wheels

Perhaps you changed the power assisted steering?
Other driving aids (abs, SRF) might be on for one account and not the other?

I have had the FFB at 6. I did the testing a long time ago when I got the game in nov.2010. The FFB has changed since one of the spec II updates and is somewhat weaker now.

I just Did another test tonight with FFB at 10. It is not any difference between amateur, proffesional or simulation. As Ronald6 wrote, the selection gets shadowed with the DFGT. It seams that the choices are for the GT Force wheels and not for DF wheels. I have to admit that I still have my DFGT at simulation ;) just in case.

At OP I think you safely can hav the FFB at 10

No, you are wrong. That setting only applies to the wheels highlighted. It does not apply to the others. Ronald6 has it correct.
No testing needed, just read the manual.

Sorry about that, I think what confused me is that I changed the FFB from 5 to 10, AND changed the feedback settings at the same time, instead of one at a time. It just felt so different at first, I was blown away. Sorry for causing more confusion!

No problem. Confusion happens, lol.

I got my DFGT since 1 and 1\2 year now and I mostly drift with it. on FFB 3.
Got no proplem yet ,the pedals are abit 'twitchy' now tho.

I always heard that a lot of drifting just destroys the gearing in the wheel because flipping from lock to lock a lot stresses the motors. Maybe it's different for you because your FFB is so low (3)

Btw, nice avatar man 👍

I had a DFGT with it set on 3 for about a month and then during practice for a lrague race is burned up. It smelled like a hot electrical component and it worked just had no FFB. I unplugged it, plugged it back it and then it stopped working altogether.

I decided to send it back for a new one and this wheel lasted about 3 months on the same settings. I sent it back for a refund and am now saving my money to see what kind of luck i get with a G27.
