Long story short... Grew up on GT3... Skipped GT4 and finally came back and bought GT5 XL edition last week. Couldn't get into the racing side of it using my thumbs so went out and bought a DFGT last night. LOVE IT! I've improved my racing considerably with just one night of use. Wife thinks I'm ridiculous but whatever :dunce:

EDIT:

Question is though, Should i Return the DFGT and upgrade to the G27 as its really only about $100 more? Is it a minimal improvement? I realize the DFGT has plastic pedals but they seem sturdy enough to me for what I'm doing.

Basically looking for opinions on performance aspects of both wheels and if i am missing some pro's and con's of either. All help is appreciated.

If you literally just bought a DFGT I would stick with that. Or else your replacing and old wheel with another old wheel. Thats how I see things. You should be looking at Thrustmaster/Fanatec for your next upgrade IMO. :D

I should have specified. I meant returning the DFGT and grabbing the G27. Yeah I'd like to upgrade into the thrustmaster a couple years down the road.

:dunce: Might have been me who mis-read it. I say go for it. DFGT is without a doubt the best budget wheel, but if you can afford a wheel with proper paddle shifters, not to mention an H-shifter/clutch, you just can't beat the value of a G27. Plus you'll be more prepared for the next generation of wheels where stick and clutch will most likely be the norm.

I tweaked my DFGT when I had it; bungee cord trick to the pedals and www.granturgismo.com paddles, and I loved it! The main reason I upgraded to the G27 was the noise aspect... I like to play at night after everyone has gone to bed, and with my rig being in the living room, everyone could hear the DFGT's straight cut gears, especially when I would rally, the vibrations made the wheel loud. I'd say the noise has been reduced by 90% with the G27, and it's got a better pedal set, I feel like I have much more control over the brake now.

If you have the $100 more to spend, I would go for the G27. I have a DFGT and the G27 and having the shifter plus better pedals is well worth it.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Greatly appreciate it. I think i will see about going back and trading in for the G27. Seems to be the best buy... And its only $225 on amazon prime right now.

I badly want a G27, but I've got a bit of a conundrum in that if I don't make a sim cockpit I can get a G27, but if I don't make a sim cockpit I won't have anywhere to put a G27, and I already have a Driving Force Pro (two, actually)... So it looks like I'm making the cockpit and waiting a while to re-grow some funds. It's my birthday soon though, even if it is a bit of an expensive present.

In summary, I'm jealous. You'll love the G27 for sure.

I've actually done an about face on the G27. Decided to keep the DFGT. The 100 bucks extra i would spend on the G27 I've decided to hold onto and keep for a bigger upgrade down the road. The G27 is for sure a better wheel/pedals but the DFGT works well enough for now.

Hmm, for only $100 more... might be worth it. I'm a fellow DFGT owner and I love mine as well, picked it up 'Like New' from a guy who didn't have time for GT5 any more, at a bargain of $125 (this was last year, when it was on special new for $180).

But *scans eBay AU, then eBay US* For double ($250 still seems to be the lower point for the G27) I couldn't justify it.

I mean you get a clutch, but the wheel design isn't as good, it looks really raw, despite the material being leather around the edge, the center looks so bland, and there isn't that dial to adjust stuff in the middle, if it can be configured / exists, its on the gear control panel which I always thought was akward.

Where are you using this? Have you already got a stand for the wheel?

Mate, the G27 all the way!

Seriously, the gearbox alone is worth the money. Or even a G25, although I'veh heard there harder to come by now. Either way, there both reliable products.

I wasn't sure what i was going to put it on when i got it but ended up that it fits perfectly on this 3'x3' table we have and we have this micro recliner in that fits perfectly right to it. Sounds bizarre probably but actually really comfortable and super easy to setup or take down.

I think im going to stick with the DFGT. My buddy has a G27 and its really nice. The pedals alone are probably worth it... but when i race with his compared to mine i just prefer the feel of the DFGT I think. I like the PS3 button setup and i think the force feedback seems better on my wheel than on his.

What did you pay for the DFGT?

I opted for the G27 over the DFGT because it only costed me a few extra dollars over the DFGT. You best bet on getting a good price on the G27 would be to buy it online. I got mine for $194.

I've got my RA functions mapped to 5 of the 6 buttons on the wheel (G27) itself. Top left: RA menu, middle left: RA adjust +, bottom left: RA adjust -, middle right: RA select +, bottom right: RA select -. I use the top right button for reverse...
