DFGT Question: Poor FFB?

Hello everyone.

I recently purchased Logitech's Driving Force GT steering wheel. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now, mainly with GT5, but I occasionally play on Dirt 2 and Shift as well. Since this is my first steering wheel, I have no idea how strong or weak FFB on a wheel should be.

On GT5, I started with FFB on 5, which was default, with all the other settings at max i.e. Simulation, and PWR S off. It was good, though I was expecting the wheel to rumble/vibrate when I'd skid or go on sand/grass. That, however, was not the case. I don't drive, so I cannot say if this is how it would be like in real driving, so have nothing to compare with. I turned the FFB to 10, same thing. But of course, when I do Rally races i.e. on dirt or snow, this FFB is more obvious, even on 5.

So, my question is, it this normal? So when I drive straight on a circult at high speeds, I shouldn't feel any feedback from the wheel? Or even when I go off track on to sand/grass?

The Red Bull X2010 is the only vehicle where the FFB is brilliant; I have a hard time handing the wheel with FFB on 5.

I'm sorry if this a noob question or if this has been answered on another thread, I actually did a bit of thread hunting myself looking for a solution before posting this. Any replies and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

Unfortunately this is the case with my wheel too. The update a while back effectively ruined the ffb, especially on lower end wheels.

And since pd finds this unimportant I guess we're stuck with it :S

Oh. Well, that sucks. I expected the DFGT to be work the best with GT5 since it was GT5:P's official wheel. So there's absolutely no way to fix this? Except deleting the updates? Well thank you for your reply. At least now I know that I'm not alone.

Yeah unfortunately there is no way apart from removing updates and it's not worth it for me really. I might just move over to PC sims because the flexibility with settings and customisation is just unparalleled in sims like iRacing.

Set FFB strength to 10 in GT5, turn off power assisted steeering. Soon you will get used to it.

Certain cars are always going to have stronger than FFB than others. That's how it is in real life as well.

The DFGT actually has great FFB, especially for the price. It's not the smoothest feeling wheel, you can feel a little bit of the gear mechanisms, and it also has little deadzone in the center, but overall it's an awesome wheel. However the pedals are awful, fragile, and unreliable. But there's not much you can do about it. For 100 bucks, DFGT is hands down the best investment in gaming you can make in my opinion assuming you play racing games. Even if you dont play racing games, I imagine you would start once you try it. Everybody I know that tries it for the first time immediately wants one, even chicks that hate driving and think racing is only for inbreds, it's like going to dave and busters for them.
