From the responses I've gotten about people reassigning their reverse button to the shifter, I'm curious as to how many people are even using the shifter in its original intention at all. I just don't know if I can get on with paddle shifting with my wheel. It sort of defeats the purpose of having it and the shifter, IMO. Seems lame to me to be changing gears without using the shifter, but then again I'd still have to figure out a way around the reverse button issue.

What are your guys' button configurations as far as shifting goes?

I keep my button configurations just as it is. I dont mind having the reverse button in the triangle set up, it was weird at first but I dont want to lose my shifter.

The way I play is I keep everything in its right place because for cars that has a gear shifter, I shift with the DFGT. Cars with pedal shifters, I shift with the DFGT's pedals. Its to get more of a real simulation experience.

The problem for me is that Logitech didnt seem to do any research into cars before they made the Driving Force GT so they put the gear stick on the wrong side, and they put it behind the wheel. :boggled:

We know that the GT is Logitech's budget wheel ( I own one myself and I still think it's the best value wheel anyone makes ) but they added the shifter as an afterthought, almost like they knew they couldn't do it right and keep it within bufget but felt they had to do something.

So no, I do not use the shifter for gearing.

The GT gets a lot of stick for its wheel mounted paddles, and in fact it's wrong to call them paddles because they are just buttons, but I have to be honest, they are perfectly comfortable for me and do exactly what I need, even during tight turns.

I use paddles. The "shifter" i use now for handbrake AND reverse.
MUCH MUCH better to use it, than triangle and circle buttons.
