After 2 weeks of playing gt5 with ps3 controller, I decided to build a wheelstand with my friend. It cost me 8 euros to build and it works like a dream! :D

It took us about 2 hours to make (the legs weren't even so we had to adjust it a bit). After couple minutes of testing I can safely say that driving with a wheel kicks ds3 ass 100-0!

Has anyone else built their wheelstand? :P

I didn't build mine. I had a desk, that was quite similar in size and shape as the one you made, but while playing GT5 Pro I launched my R8 into the air at about 200mph, spun the wheel around while it had no feedback and held on tight. Bad mistake. As soon as I hit the ground the DFGT busted my table into 3 pieces. Now its a Frakenstein situation that looks a lot like yours but has the full table across the top. Really nice for holding the keyboard and other items.

I need to get a hold of a cheap bucket seat. After that, I can probably just go out to my local metal supply shop and buy about $30 worth of metal. Then I can fire up the welder and make a new play seat :).

@ GR1P_0082R:
His TV is fine, (& not everyone has the means, especially if they make a $8 stand) ;)

:dopey:The biggest problem in his set up are the Standard car without any cockpits :ouch:

nice and easy set up 👍 viineri

my btother-in-law and I made wheel stands the week before GT5 came out.

bout $40 plus paint. I can fold it flat and store it under the bed. Wayyy better than a TV tray.

^ now thats a pretty stand for being so cheap! I'm getting (hopefully) a wheel for Christmas and will inevitably be building myself a little stand as I will probably not want to purchase a pre-built one. Do you mind PM'ing me with some of the basics of you're stand? Like how you got it to fold, what size wood you used, etc. Thanks

To the OP, you might want to add a support to the front and rear so when you push and pull on your stand it will stay in place.

I have two 10kg weights holding the stand in place. BTW nice self-made stands you people got! :)

Here's mine, most of it's built from wood and parts of an office chair. I work at a print shop and we had large sheets of silver-metallic label stock that I applied to the wood (was too cold here to spray paint it!)) so it has a "chrome" look. On the chair I have an Ultimate Gaming Chair gaming pad that has motors in it which rumble and shake with the audio. If I go over a rumble-strip or am on gravel the whole thing shakes and it feel awesome! It was cheap on amazon and highly recommended. 2 speakers and a subwoofer mounted on the seat part and 3 THX surround sound speakers mounted on the wheel stand (not shown in photos). I have a G27 coming for Xmas so I will be adding a piece to hold the shifter and building a better stand for the pedals. I used the wooden tv table method for years and I am amazed at how much a difference a solid/stable rig at the proper height makes!
