i know the faqs are at the top of the page, but i have a question:odd:
recently i ran into websites that over new cars to download onto the pc version of collin mcrae 1 & 2, and these cars are designed by individuals and codded specifacally for these two games and they really play well. so is it that the diablo thing is designed and coded by some individual, and if that is the case then we should be able to get cars that are not available in gt3, like let's say a ferrari f50, or a porsche carrera gt, or even a bugatti eb 112.
you see this might be the case with the diablo!!:odd: :odd: :D

The diablo was originally going to be put into the game by Polyphony (that the right company?) but they pulled it out just before the game went into production but didn't get rid of it completley. Thats why you can still get it. There are wuite a few hidden cars in GT3, like an authentic Porsche, not an RUF. :)

Actually, it's in the first run of Japanese copies, Lamborghini made them pull it out of the game before it reached world markets. Hence why we have the RSX-S, and Japan doesn't... We got owned on that one...

I have every car possible!!!

BTW The Porsche GT3 is beautiful. I thought it would be a re-badged Ruf RGT but it isn't at all really.

I know about the Diablo being put in the game because Polyphony thought they had the entire JGTC license. But why would Polyphony even bother designing the GT3 when they totally know they dont have the Porsche license.

Why aren't the two Lancia Stratos' in GT3, but they are on the CD. PD obviously has permission to use Lancia, but why ditch the Stratos? I have noticed that the only way to make the tires from showing through the hood on this car is to have pretty rigid springs and a pretty high ride height? Otherwise the tops of the tires are always popping up and down. But it happens way more on the Stratos rally than it does on the Stratos street version.

Also, what year is the Lancia Stratos? Like 1983-ish?

:D Hi 12sec. Civic,
The Stratos ran more like '75-'80 under factory colors & a few more years in the hands of privateers. Too bad we can't change sponsors as there were some outstanding liveries on the rallye cars. (The "Alitalia" version IS one of my favorites however). The Africa Rallye versions w/spare tire on the roof & "Roo Bars" were quite bizarre.

As to the tire problem: The wheels/tires are too large as provided, have you tried to use smaller diameter ones w/MK's program???...UB57
:D

No, I haven't tried editing that car at all.

I read up all about the Startos last night.

Its got a Ferrari 2.4L V6!

The Concept was debuted in 1970, it was considered a supercar. It was the first car specifically designed for rallying, whereas all of the other rally cars were taken from street production cars.

The Stratos led to the group b rally cars of the 80's (the way too powerful ones that were too dangerous)

The stratos won the world championship in '74, '75, '76 and has also won countless other races at the hands of countless drivers and teams.

Not a bad little car, and it now has a small place im my heart! I love driving it, now that I know all about it and its history!

PS Thje V6 is from a Ferrari Dino that ended production right when the Stratos went into production.

They also only sold 492 of the actual road versions.

:D To 12sec. Civic,
Glad to see I have another Stratos fan here!!! The story goes that Ferrari wanted to enter the rallye circuit but didn't want to be embarassed if they couldn't win right away. Lancia had the new chassis almost done but it would have been powered by their 4-banger. So Ferrari provided the powerplants & the rest is history. BTW: I got to drive one of the 5 or 6 road versions in the US at that time in about 1980 or so. A true highlight of my driving career!!!...UB57

Man, what an awesome experience that would have been!

I could only speculate what one of them would fetch if it rolled across the block at Barrett-Jackson!

So, was it fast. I know its only around 185hp but its a 1970 car so that is not bad.

Have you seen the concept version? The one with the single door that was like part of the roof. What a hardcore drivers car it was!

:D To 12sec. Civic,
The one I drove belonged to a guy who raced UNlimited Class Planes @ Reno & it had been "warmed" over to the tune of about 300-325HP. After he gave me a hair raising ride he let me take my wife for a spin in it. He could hear that I "babied" it around the block, (it was worth about $75,000 US @ that time), & I didn't want to hurt it. Anyway when I came back from the first lap he told me to take it back out & REALLY drive it. The best I can tell you is that it was "Cat Like" under power. Short wheelbase + lots of HP makes for a "Twitchy" package, but just what the rallye guys like I suppose. Did you ever wonder why most pictures show it crossed up in a turn??? Phil Hill test drove one for Road & Track ages ago & said the only way it went where you wanted it to go was if you got it drifting!!!
:D

So, UB57....What do you suppose a nice original, well documented one would fetch at the Barrett-Jackson?

Or better yet, one with a racing background. Those cars fetch insane amounts of cash!

Here is the car as it looks in GT3 (Once it has been hacked out). Just in case most of you guys dont know what car we are talking about. I didn't know about it until I downloaded it.

:D To 12sec. Civic,
I've only ever seen 4 different ones in this country & that was close to 25 years ago!! Have no idea how many are still here or what they're worth. Way too deep for my pockets I'm sure. Probably 15 years ago there was an outstanding "Kit Car" version done somewhere in the UK, would LOVE to get ahold of one of those!!! Would hold just about any modern I4 or V6 front wheel drive setup & with the intake only inches from your ears...Heavenly Sounds!!!...UB57

to 12sec. Civic
you mentioned something about wheels popping out of the car in the stratos, while i was reading your comment i was customizing a focus rally car and i lowered the car all the way down springs and ride height. and guess what the wheels popped rigth out of the side of the car, so i guess the stratoss was not thrown out of the game because of such a thing.
and guys you might be interested in a dvd called "greatest rally cars" in it there is the stratos, audis, peugeot 405, 206,......... and there is some really, and i mean really cool  in car footage of the pikes peak hill climb on board the audi and the peugeot 405, reall monsters:mad:
and one more thing 12sec. Civic are you crazy, using the AWD drive terain on a honda civis. seriousley how much did it cost you for such a conversion. wouldn't it have been better to buy a subaru wrx or a 22b for instance.

It the AWD from the Civic wagon. Nothing fancy, got it off an old one. Same wheelbase, but unfortunately it is 80%/20% Front/Rear torque split. Still helps.
