Not good :ouch:

corrupted-data.jpg

After installing all the data into the recently purchased PS3, it is quite apparent that my GT5 gaming days are over. I can log in, go to the home screen, only to see what appears to be shadowed car tickets on the screen. The game is totally frozen. I'm sunk.

Total loss between 2 accounts :
1 account @ level 40/40, the other @ level 35/40
Over 2700 cars, many, many, many of them in 0/0/0 condition.
Over 5000 paints.
All the paid for DLC.
A good amount of level tickets, was missing less than a handful.
A good amount of B-Day tickets.

Many late nights, early mornings, countless hours, grinding, trading, gifting ..... all for not.

This being said, I'll catch you all in GT6 somewhere down the road. 👍

I basically lost everything and idk if im gonna give up yet. ill prolly just play now to catch up with friends best a luck to you though

This weekend I have an electronics guru coming over to have a peek at it. Hoping, hoping, hoping.

Thanks tadlock, appreciate that. Oh, ... don't trip over anything running to your computer.

How did this go???

We'll know this late afternoon / early evening. Thanks.

Your replies to this are :

You might need a NEW GT5 disk as the disk may be damaged and your PS3 is unable to read it fully.
I had this issues and i had to buy a new copy of the game to resolve it after finding out it was an issue with my GT5 disk.

There is one more approach you could take my friend .... relive the joy and excitement of starting the game again from the beginning :dopey:

I had built my game initially with my ANFD account and then decided I wanted to race under a team ID (OSR) so had to restart the game from the beginning under the new ID. Sure I could send myself some cars and parts every day, but most of the really good cars were ungiftable so I had to simply do the events and bring that account up to the other's level. Surprisingly, it only took about 30 days to "recreate" my original items in the new account.

Also, before GT5, we all played the heck out of GT4. I started the game and ran it up to 96 or 98% (can't remember now). Got bored with it and put it away for a while, then got bored with not playing it so started it over from the beginning just for fun. I was actually surprised at how much fun it was to start the game fresh again. It took so long for GT5 (or Prologue actually) to be released that I ended up finishing (98%) the game and restarting from the beginning 2 more times after that (4 total). For some reason, I always found it pervertingly fun to begin again from the beginning. I ended up with the fourth go-round with 550 cars in the garage and every upgrade for every car :)

I know this doesn't help fix your existing situation exactly, but it is an option. The second Mayan Calendar will be expired by the time GT6 is released so you'll be bored without GT :dopey: With the many, many friends you have in the community it probably wouldn't take very long for you to collect all the giftable cars once again. You performed all the suggestions here trying to fix it .... mostly having to do with deleteing files and defragging .... now it's time to do the same thing with your biological hard drive and reformat your brain to put you back in the mood again :) I'd be happy to send you a car (paints and parts as well) every day for as long as you want :)

Like crap ... thanks for asking though. Both accounts are totally fubar, no saving them at all. :ouch: The data is so intertwined that it is not even remotely funny.

From the "good old days" comes one of my best friends ... thanks bud, your thoughts are always appreciated. 👍

Well, I'm doing what you said, I'm starting over from scratch. I've since started a new account. I have about 5-6 hrs in it and have already leveled up to 24 / 21. Thank God for those high paying seasonals. I'll be honest here with you, I am not playing this game on a level field this time around. I've had my time in the barrel, twice. Back when there were no seasonals, back before there were these high end payouts, back when you literally had to relentlessly grind your tail off for countless hours at a time. I legitimately earned my 40/40 & 35/40 the hard way, not going back down that road. Yes, I'm overpowering it this time around. My kid gifted me a spanking new ACR Viper to get going with and I've not looked back. I hit a few seasonals with it, ran a few A-Specs with it, ran some B-Spec with it. I also purchased a FGT, Bob is tearing it up the A.I. in B-Spec mode with it. As soon as I hit 200% (170 now) payout, I'm going to hit it really hard ... 40/40 is around the corner. We are climbing back up ... fast. If only the lost cars, paints, tickets would ramp up that fast we would be set. Oh well, it will all come back again in due time. Speaking of cars, I just bought the batch of current OCD, I'm collecting the prize cars, and have earned 2 tickets back ... a L13 and a L20. 'Ya gotta start somewhere, right ?

I'm on the come-back trail.

Good to see ya going around again, dude. If you add fisho_man and look in my profile, you'll find a shared Civic (civic and FF seasonals), a TVR (british lightweight seasonal), a tuned '70 Celica, a Evo Super Rally (rally special events) and a couple replicas. Send FR to frank_furt70 and there are shared a 2J, a Chev SSR (truck events/seasonal) and a Gallardo set for the Lambo seasonal. Also a Subaru which is setup for the 4WD seasonal, although is not my preferred one.

You got it ... many thanks to you. It is appreciated. 👍 I need to hit up as many friends as I can honestly remember and get going with them again. I know I'm going to forget some and I feel bad about it, but ....

BTW - my new online I.D. is - FlyOverStates.

I'm sorry to hear data recovery went like crap but I'm glad to hear you are still playing. I'm going to reserve a week's worth of trade days for you (but can't send until next weekend). Let me know what you'd like. Oh... I have the 2 GT Academy cars in Ticket form that are tradable. I'll definitely send you those.

Also, if you need more cars put on share I can help with that as well.

I'll send FR to new account later tonight.

Thanks very much tadlock, appreciated. 👍

At this particular point in time, one cannot be choosey. Anything sent / borrowed is of great value .... thanks again. Once I get back up on my feet (again), I'll definitely make it right with you and the others who have and or will be helping out on the rebuilding process.

You'll be receiving a FR from my grinder account if you want any B-Spec drivers run.....there is also a Scuderia on there for share, for the Ferrari seasonal and A-Spec events.
